Planted to larger tree peaches grow off best from whip plant seedling. Tree limbs and trunk are dead from to much water rain mostly peachtrees like lite moist soil. Bubs brake out just to die on dead wood. Raised area is better place for peach tree and soil should not soak in water shedding water so move away is best Semi drought.

Peach leaf curl. I have had it several years now. Its tough to treat. Need to spray in the fall and the early spring. Even then you can still get it. Cold and wet weather makes it worse. Give the tree a good shot of Nitrogen. It will leaf back out again. Peach trees are tough. Research and be ready next year.

Yes, you have Peach Leaf Curl. There is nothing you can do for this year, but starting in late fall, apply a spray of Copper.

A very loose rule of thumb is three sprays, Thanksgiving, New Years and Valentine's day.

Additionally, clean up the fallen leaves and discard them. (don't compost).

This will give you pretty good results.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Now I learn the term peach leaf curl. Just wondering: does this mean I will not have any harvest this year? I still see some little baby peaches growing here and there. Or I should not eat them at all even though they are mature? When you mention about using Copper, do you have any organic one you can recommend? I have a spray from Southern Ag. Liguid Copper Fungicide and another one from Safer with lime sulfur. Not sure if they are organic or not.

If the tree holds the fruit, go ahead and eat it. Nothing wrong with that.

Copper is copper...its all organic...comes in different forms but its mostly just the concentration of copper that you are worried about. You may have to spray several times. Some of that stuff is expensive. I sprayed early this spring right before the buds broke and I still lost almost every leaf on one of my trees. I think what I was using just wasn't strong enough. Some peaches are more resistant...two of mine have hardly any curl. If you can keep the tree completely dry until the leaves unfold you won't have any (my container peaches are almost curl free having spent many spring rains in the garage/they weren't sprayed at all).

I guess this is a real bad year. MSU (Michigan State University) is seeing a lot of curl in orchards.

I do find a lot of websites recommending lime sulfur spray as a organic way but some people say it is not strong enough. Next year, I will remember to spray and spray.

Cool wet weather sure encourages it. At least it's been too cool for fireblight and stinkbugs (at least it seems the stinkers like hot dry weather).

Where I've had a problem with peach leaf curl is a site where the owner planted daffodils and didn't want to mow until I warned him my spray would kill his wild bees after petal fall if we didn't get the flowering weeds cut. He planted these things a few years ago and the tall grass seems to have increased over all humidity at the site. PLC appeared the first season this began.

It usually isn't a problem here but certain sites seem to encourage it more than others. Cultivar susceptibility also varies as was noted.

Ive seen some fire blight already this year on one pear tree. I cut the offending limbs out and am now watching for more.
