Hi Doc!! I am sorry that i haven't been around... My Little Daschund had a terrible accident a few days ago when he was coming up the stairs. He missed a step and hit his little head wrong and instantly began to curl his feet. The Vet said he hurt his neck and to wait and see if he will come around. Well, he was paralyzed and couldn't do much to help himself, so i had to make the decision to let him go and not suffer anymore.. A hard decision because i didnt want him to leave me, but a decision made from the love that i have for him and the true love he always gave back. A true Gentleman for 13 years and he left in my arms a relaxed loved little loyal companion. This is why i have been away.. I'm still bummed and im missing my little garden buddy..But i wanted to come here and tell you why i didnt respond to your email and this post.. Thanks for the email to get me here!!! Sorry to hear about your Peace Lilly. I know how much you loved them and how you worked so hard to get the mix right and the special containers for your loved lilly. Noone could have done more than what you did to make them happy, try again someday and i bet they will be bigger and strongern(healthier) than the others. Puerto Rico sounds lovely right now.. That would probably make me smile seeing those beautitful sunsets and crystal blue water around Luquillo Beach!! Love those Coconut palms all the way down to the water. What a great local spot to visit. So you have a new Rubber Tree eh? ;-) I bet it does love the partial shade in your yard. Plants naturally love being outdside and i understand that you want to bring it inside to your office. You have the right idea to keep it away from drafts and or airconditoning vents. Constant air (chilled) causes problems and i would avoid this if possible. Also, i would keep it close to any natural light that you can, but if it is only artificial light try and see if it adjust. Give it some time because taking it from a natural enviroment to a artifical enviroment will cause any plant an adjustment period. Good Luck Tecnico and i hope all is well with you!! Hi SarahofLayton, I just want to welcome you and to say that your are in good company here. Many will give you great information and it will become easy to understand and really become confortable in your ability to understand what you plants needs are. They will tell you what and when and we are here to tend to those needs. Al has listed some links for you to read and i know you will find them useful. Don't worry if you need to reread them and take your time in soaking in all of this information. This is really a good time to learn and get aquainted in your knowledge for the care of all of your plants. The repotting will wait until Spring/summer, depending on where you live. So, don't feel that you need to take on to much now. : ) I remember the Ficus that Rina Had to tackle and she did a great job with that huge tree. She knew what she wanted to do. Then she learned what needed to be done with the help of many including AL. They did a great job on that tree. Great teamwork!!! : ) So relax, read and know that many here will help you, encourage you and teach you all that you would like to learn. I have learned so much here in the last few years and i am so glad to have found this forum and to have the support here. Many here have taught me and i can't thank them enough... including Al, Mike and many more.. Taking a tree and having the confidence to do whatever is needed is the most rewarding feeling when you know it will be happy in your hands. You will see such inprovement in the health of your trees. But remember, that they don't always respond to the repotting as fast as we would like to see, so don't worry. They have their own time to relax and get comfortable in their new enviroment. brodyjames - I should suspect that any problems you had were due to the lack of a drainage hole, rather than the pot being ceramic. Besides you say both your pots are glazed so they would behave the same as a plastic pot regarding evaporation. I think it is a little harder to keep plants happy in terra cotta but I don't think that is necessarily the problem with the OP's Spathiphyllum. The change of pot is only one of the variables, the others being the light, root disturbance and, presumably, a new medium. You could test one of those variables by putting the plant back where it was and seeing if that makes a difference. As well as having reduced the plant's light by change of aspect there is the concomitant reduction due to less light overall at this season. So the plant has had quite a lot to deal with.

Hi I grow them mostly in pots but outdoors the best of these are in standing water, have never grown them in the house in florida except in riparium setups. Have even grown them submerged for long periods of time Only things i've found that they will not tolerate is drying out and hard freeze. They seem to have a lot of trouble on the houseplant forum and insist they need sharp drainage . I haven't found that to be true . in fact almost opposite !! Keep an eye out for rot . I find them to be extremely hardy plants good luck gary
