Does anyone know this plant?

My mum has a couple of these plants in the house. I took two off-shoots and potted them up. They are growing well at the moment, with one or two leaves a week.

I have been treating it like my anthurium, as it grows a bit like that, forming a kind of 'trunk' of old growth. I have not seen any flowers on my mum's plants, but that does not mean it doesn't flower!

I wondered abt Pep also, or maybe if Karen715 came by she'd know (a Pep. maven).

I also wonder if it might be some form of Anthurium, perehaps a form less commonly seen. Quite a handsome leaf, whatever it is!

Gasteraloe (Gasteria) , I believe. I killed one once upon a time LOL. But its a beauty. If you put it on the cactus and succulent forum they'll be able to help you out a lot!!!

Oh yes there’s definitely variegation on the leaves but you cant really see it in the pics. it just arrived from CA all the way to MA, so I was thinking maybe it lost some colors during travel? i have a South facing solarium with floor to ceiling windows that I was slowly going to introduce it to. I felt the need to let it chill out first and get used to it’s new soil.... Maybe if I pinch it it will get bushy? Or just let the sun do it’s job for awhile?...

Possibly Alocasia. If so it has rhizomes that can be divided when the plant is large enough.

Taking photos of a plant into the nursery to get an ID and posting here are virtually the same activity except here, one doesn't have to leave the comfort of their own home to get a fast and almost always correct ID :-) No apps need - or should - be involved in either case. And I've been to Roger's many times. I guess it depends how one defines an "incredible" nursery. I'd consider Roger's to be more of a retail garden center than a plantsman's nursery. Big focus on garden doo-dads and accoutrements and a very limited selection of landscape plants. Mostly annuals, edibles and houseplants....what the wealthy hobby gardeners look for. And with a Newport Beach/Corona del Mar price tag to match! If you really want an excellent nursery, drive a few miles south to the Plant Depot in San Juan Capistrano. This is a full service nursery with a huge range of plants. Nothing fancy.......just a whole lotta plants of ALL types! That is where I shopped when I did landscape design in OC.

At first I thought Peperomia. But I'm leaning more towards the Anthurium - like Pirate_girl - because of the way the leaves are growing. Whatever it is, it's really cute.

Pilea peperomioides yep! I gooogled it. the first one when I went through google has a big beautiful plant. Same thing.

One of those pictures looks as though they have a flower stem - which is hopeful!

They are really happy looking, if you know what I mean?!

I am going to carry on treating it as it is as it is responding so well.
