using wax for texture

18 years ago

"I use body wax because of the very low melting point.

Great thing is you can use it over and over.

Add sand or pea gravel and you get great texture.

I do brick faces that look like rock by dripping wax on my workbench to get that layered sandstone look."

This was part of TE's reply in the silicon calk thread - thought I ought to post my question as a separare thread.

TE, could you elaborate on this a bit? Do you cast the bricks face down on your workbench ? Do you need a release agent on wax?

I've been trying some different things to make a stamp to give a rock like texture to some driveway pavers we want to make. At the moment I'm using a rock as a mold. tried silicon first but used some old stuff that never set. Got some new stuff and am trying again - have to put a second coat on but I don't think it's going to be firm enough. also tried hot glue but that wasn't successful either.

I have some beeswax on hand so I'll probably give that a try. I need to come up with something that will be easy to use as we have to make a WHOLE BUNCH.

Thanks for any help,
