Chuck: The Immunox shouldn't harm your bees as long as it isn't IMMUNOX PLUS which also contains an insecticide. Make certain of that first if your bees are active. Are your trees flowering? I doubt the liquid copper stuff is doing a darned thing for the CAR and if the concentration is too high, it can burn foliage.

I use Immunox and find it to be very effective. Some folks spray it once around pink I think and a second time at petal fall and get good control. Others like me spray once at 1/2" green stage and repeat at 7 - 10 day intervals through the last spray at petal fall.

To be certain, if your galls haven't started sporulating (yours sound like they have) until you are well into bloom you definitely wouldn't have to apply more than a couple of sprays. For example, I could have saved myself one spray if I had waited until the galls sprouted this year to start spraying. Instead I started at the 1/2" green stage. The galls didn't start up until much later. Next year I'll do better. Immunox has post-infection activity for up to about 96 hrs. max. meaning if the tree is infected and you apply within that time frame it should do its job.

If you are wondering about bud growth stages, I.E. 1/2" green, look at the link below. Pest control actions are often based on those stages.

OK, so I found Immunox Lawn Disease Control at my local Home Depot after searching all over. It has 2.0% Myclobutanil, nothing else, which is more than the Immunox Multi Purpose Fungicide of 1.55%. It also came in the goofy hose adapter bottle. Can I simply crack open the bottle and mix with water in my power sprayer, or is that a bad idea?

My trees were in full bloom before the galls turned to orange goo, which based on your post, makes me somewhat lucky?

Well, since nobody had any further advice, I searched high and low and finally found a dusty box of the Immunox general purpose (not the Plus). Applied liberally with a powered spot sprayer.

Is there any merit to spraying the cedars too, especially the galls?

As for using the Immunox Lawn Disease Control, the rule is... if it's rated for your target on the label, then ok, but otherwise, no. (I'm guessing it isn't). Although I'm proud not to read the label/instructions when it comes to other things, you can't do that with pesticides and fungicides. It's all about the label.

Interesting. I've never seen a powdered Immunox before. Did the label say it was rated for Apples? The link below is where I got mine.

Not sure about spraying the cedars directly. Again, it's about the label.

Yea, that's why I continued the search. The devil is in the details of those secret "other ingredients". I have been able to find nothing on controlling CAR at the cedar, spray or otherwise. How odd, since I'm sure the scenario of close-by cedars not being able to be cut down is common.

The reason you probably don't find anything for spraying the cedar's is because for most of us, our CAR spores can blow in from anywhere. Spores can travel for supposedly miles so even if you did own all that property, it would be hard to spray all the cedars. It's easier to simply spray your apple trees. That said, if I had some galling cedars on my property, I would be attempting to find something to spray them with too! -Glenn
