Incidentally, the bush has grown about 2 inches since I took the photo and its branches are getting longer, too.

This photo taken last season, 4th leaf. The bush has grown to 6 ft and is loaded with cherries now. I am growing Crimson Passion too and CP looks about the same as CJ.
Gardens Alive / Gurneys should have other bush cherries next season.
I will get the others I like the taste better than my sweets.

Wow! That's a beautiful bush! Did yours start out as scrawny as mine? Can I expect something that big in four years?

I'd like to know the answer to that too. :)

My Carmine Jewel and Crimson Passion bush cherries came from St Lawrence Nursery in 2007. They were small bare root plants about the size in the first photo. St Lawrence has been selling CP plants this year about three foot size. They double in size each year. My CP bush has doubled in size to six and a half feet tall since last seasons photo above. You may get a few cherries in the third leaf. Next season my CP bush should stop growing at eight feet tall and around. I'll post another photo when the cherries are red.

How do they taste? Can they be eaten fresh?

My little scrawny bush (the first photo above) is now 34 inches tall and has five good-sized branches off the main branch. It's growing quickly!

It would be a little bigger if it hadn't been hurt by a squirrel and a falling branch--it lost 3 medium-sized branches.

I got one from Gurneys. It was just an inch or two shorter than the one in your picture. With less foliage... a lot of leaves were badly damaged in shipping, so I plucked them off. Mine hasn't grown an inch. It just sits there in its container. Baffling. Disappointing really. To have spent just short of $20 to buy it and have it shipped here for such poor results.

It's great to hear that your is doing so well. I'm hoping mine will take off once temperatures ease up a bit in the fall.

I bought 6 Carmine Jewel from Gurneys this spring. They came leafed out and were in tiny 3" pots @ about 10 or 11" tall. The spot that I wanted to plant them wasn't prepared yet so I put them in one gallon pots. The roots were just now getting to the parimeter of the gallon pots so I have been planting them in their perminent spots this past week. They had grown to about 18 to 21 inches tall and have nice folage.
