Ever grown from seed?

What plants have people grown from seed here? How did they do? Do you feel more proud of them because you grew them from seed?

I have two small pots in which I planted seeds of a Dragon Fruit I bought from Tesco. The plant is a cactus and is really easy to grow, the seeds germinating in full sun. You just water well, cover the pot with polythene and wait.

In each pot, several seeds (probably 90% of the seeds I put in there) produced shoots. At first there were two small leaves, then the spiny stem grows from between the leaves and begins to trail.

I like it because I'd never even considered that you could grow your own cacti before, and because I got the seeds from a fruit I bought in a supermarket... I like the idea that I took something that had been processed, packaged, amassed air miles, entered the big-supermarket machine... and created new life from it, like the fruit was born to make new plants until Tesco hijacked it, so I helped it realise it's purpose.
