Glad the truck is back in shape & running! That is good gas mileage!Most of my Halloween stuff is old, well about 40 yrs old. But I do have one of those spin around things out of tin with wooden handle, about 4 in. wide, handle on top. Can't even remember what it does. Think it just makes noise! I'm so tired. Made 4 pumpkin pies,2 apple & 1 pecan pie today. DD will be coming for her birthday tomorrow!!She never wants cake for her birthday always pumpkin pies. Of course my folks get some & me too. A bit more on leaf and pumpkin Recycling and Thiefy. After a few years of collecting yard waste materials. I only advance into someones yard to collect their bags if I have had prior contact and know they are fine with me making off with the bags. And I leave a bag with once-used and folded bags to save them a buck or two. If I know or suspect that you don't want me to take your brown bags of leaves, leaf/grass mixes, I will not take them even if they are sitting on the curb. I will not argue with you, I consider it your property even if the stuff is sitting in the street and not on your property. There is plenty of other stuff available. Read three years ago that one relative shot and killed another over a roll of TP. There are three neighbors who save their stuff especially for me. They put it out early (normal is 12 hours before pickup start time of 6am). We know each other by name and they put it out by the garage so no unsavory characters will make off with it. If I have extra summer veggies such as tomatoes, they may get some.

Oooo, Carmel?! Now THERE'S a really lovely place!! Expensive, but yes - very, very lovely. And yea, I bet they wouldn't let you back in upscale Carmel after the Garlic Festival! Ha Ha. I never went to the festival, but drove through Gilroy one time - and boy! You could REALLY smell that garlic from quite a ways!! So you /or your parents never took you to HMB while you lived in CA? I guess it'd be about a two hour drive. But there were many places in CA I never got to either - like Yosemite (what a shame). I don't think they had digital cameras at the time I was living there ;), but I have some photo prints around somewhere taken from those days. 'course, you can see a lot of pics now by just going to google images. On another note, so I had the seeds saved from my pumpkin and started wondering what the difference is between those and the pepitas you see in the store. So I googled it, and poked around on some of the sites. Then I stumbled across one saying that pumpkins are bred for different uses and that the best pumpkin for seeds is the Austrian Styrian pumpkin. The seeds in it are hull-less! Curious if anyone has tried growing that variety before. I found a site that sells the seeds: http://www.cherrygal.com/pumpkinstyrianheirloomseeds2011rare-p-13886.html. The flesh does look pretty ugly, you'll see in google images, so makes sense just to grow these for the seeds! Marj Added note: I got 6 cups of pulp out of my pumpkin, and about 1 1/2 - 2 cups water (didn't measure it the first time I poured it out of the bowl I was draining in, so guessing from the second amount I did measure).
