My truck is fixed & found my jack o lanterns!

Its a good day.

Our truck is fixed. Its an '87 Toyota long bed extra cab and gets 30 miles to the gallon. I thought dh was nuts to get it repaired but you can't get them like this any more. And it actually cost just a little more than HALF the quote! Whoo hoo, I can get mulch now!

And I remembered where my paper mache little jack o lantern candle holders from the 1930s were and put them out. There is a picture of them on my blog, check it out if you like. My Memere gave them to me years ago. (scroll down a bit)

I'm so glad you got the truck fixed, and you can mulch. Think of the truck as being green and recycling. I am soooo jealous of those jack-o-lanterns. I never find anything vintage Halloween around here. Also those witch fairies are really cool.

Do you have some spare time during the day to watch? Say, from a window in your house? If you suspect birds, they only feed during the day, and if you had a chance to watch the garden a little without them seeing you, might glimpse them flying into tomato patch. Just a thought.

We planted some pumpkins and a bunch of other stuff about a month ago. I wasn't gonna do a veggie garden this year since we recently moved here and it was getting late in the season for some stuff, but the kids wanted one so we decided to risk it. We put down some black cow and mixed it in with the soil before we planted. I am positive we didn't give the big pumpkins enough room though lol~ so I am sure this will be a comedy of errors! Small baby boo pumpkins and such can be trained up an A-frame or other trellis but the big ones get too heavy to tie up. I got some worm poo stakes to make a tea with for the pumpkins this year (kinda an experiment). Please keep us posted with yours, I would like to hear how it progresses. ~SJN

I think it would be a good idea to contact Bluestar about the issues you've had, in writing. It doesn't hurt to talk to them, but it is long out of warranty at this point. If you decide to sell your range after repairing it, you should disclose to the purchaser your history with the range. I would explain that you have replaced all the defects with new parts and that you want to move on with something else. It is dishonest to sell something to someone and not disclose that type of history. I once had the Maytag Neptune front load washer and dryer. It had about every imaginable part replaced. It was certainly a lemon but functioned beautifully (finally) after all the repairs. I sold it to a couple that wanted a second washer and dryer. I explained the history. We ran the washer and dryer and they worked. They bought them. I could sleep at night knowing I had been honest to them and that they made an informed choice. I made a decision to purchase a Bluestar range for my new house. I don't regret the decision at all. Every product out there has some lemons, unfortunately. However, overall, Bluestar is a good range. The real problem is that almost all components for anything we buy these days are made overseas and not here.

I was at the dr office and the lights went out.I was close where they said a tornado touched down.Just down the road.Someone gave the nurses a lighter to lite candles.Greg was out in the truck waiting for me.I am really scare of the bad weather.Its still bad here,fixing to unplug the computer.They just gave out warnings for my town.Ashley is at work a few miles up from me and she gets off at 6pm.I worry when she is away from me when bad weather is going on.I may head to the basement.Thankful greg is here with me.Now if we can get ashley home safe.

Glad the truck is back in shape & running! That is good gas mileage!Most of my Halloween stuff is old, well about 40 yrs old. But I do have one of those spin around things out of tin with wooden handle, about 4 in. wide, handle on top. Can't even remember what it does. Think it just makes noise! I'm so tired. Made 4 pumpkin pies,2 apple & 1 pecan pie today. DD will be coming for her birthday tomorrow!!She never wants cake for her birthday always pumpkin pies. Of course my folks get some & me too. I freeze mine, just slice it & freeze. Have a fun Halloween tomorrow!! Jan

Jan, I'm impressed with your pie making! I always want pie not cake also. DD was born on Halloween? Makes for fun parties. The old toy sounds interesting, I think it probably is a noise maker.

Very cool paper mache pumpkins! It's hard to believe they burned candles in them, isn't it?

Glad to hear you had your truck fixed. I spent $1,000 on my 2000 Town & Country about a month ago. Runs like a charm now (knock on wood).
