Is yours the definite arrowhead look or are the leaves kind of rounded and cupped??? mine just get so heavy they fall all over the place:) If it is the rounded cup kind, they can actually be manipulated somewhat back into a standing position (I never do this as it scares the crud out of me) but one of my friends just flips them around however she likes. These guys grow alot, seems like I always have new growth somewhere on them.
Don't sound like you have a problem to me:) if you supply something for the vines to grow on it will cling to that instead of falling downward (or so I have heard) but I like the way they look so I just leave them be.

thank you that makes me feel better they just kind of fell over and tons of new little ones are pushing up through, almost like they are gonna layer. They need watering more often than Philodendron (which Syngonium is not the same as).

Don't worry - this is a normal growth habit and makes them bushier. I find they display much nicer in a hanging basket than if you have to look down on them. When the floppy stems get too long and lanky, you can cut them off a little bit above the soil surface, and you'll get a nice new clump sprouting to fill in the top.

They do need more water than Philos, but still let them get dry on top before watering again.

I am glad to hear that this is normal, thanks for the help. It must have really been itching to be repotted because it is taking off now. Its probably wondering what took the heffer (me) so long to repot it lol. I thought it looked like a layering effect was going on, but when you repot something and leaves start falling over your like oh my gosh. how do i tell if it is the arrowhead phillodendron or arrowhead syngonium?

It is the arrowhead plant. Syngonium Podophyllum or nephthytis.

No, they aren't. Syngoniums and Philodendrons are different genuses.

They do look very similar, and as far as I know, they are both Syngoniums - why the name philodendron is on there, I have no idea.

The photo in your first link is a variety called 'Trileaf Wonder', which has thicker leaves and stems and is not as floppy as the normal kind, which you see in the second web link. I personally prefer the first one, but have never seen it for sale - I got mine as prunings from a client's twenty year old plant.

For one thing as far as I know and someone may correct me on this, but the arrowhead plant is a close relation to the Philo. has anyone ever actually seen a arrowhead Philo? can they supply a link or pic if they do, because I have been searching the net and I cannot find one single picture of any but what is the Syngonium. Now I am curious.
I did see a plant that was a rich dark green with a brown(?) tint to it, the leaves are narrower then the Syngonium, with none of the patterns in the leaves that we see with the Syngonium (can I say that world one more time?) It is hard to get your meaning across sometimes:)

Philodendron and Syngonium are both genuses in the family Araceae. To put it very loosely, they're cousins. Botanical names will sometimes change as new relationships are discovered; common names don't change so much but they are frequently misleading or wrong. It's good to know both.

In some cases, the care requirements will overlap, and in some cases they won't, which just goes to show that you can't choose how to treat a plant based on what other members of its family like.
