Amazing! What variety is that? I've never seen pods that long (at least I've never let my pods get that long!) Are any of them edible?

I don't know what variety it would be considered now. I *believe* it was Clemson Spineless when I planted it originally, but I don't remember. Might have been Annie Oakley. I can guarantee that it didn't do this the first year it grew. Or last year, that I remember.

I wouldn't eat the pods that are there now. They are way too tough. If I would have seen it early on, the smaller ones would have probably been fine, like with normal okra.

I've seen a lot of okra (granted, most all of it clemson spineless), but i've never seen that quality of branching. Neat.

The pictures remind me of my Longhorn Okra when spaced far enough apart for branching.

Back in the 80s and early 90s Park Seed offered an okra called "Park's Candelabra Branching". I grew it a couple of years in the early 90s but haven't seen it offered in a while. It was a good branching okra.

Now that you mention Longhorn, it may be what I planted. I recognize the name. I guess it's not the mutant I thought it was after all.

Well save the seeds. SSE wants them. Maybe you can offer them on GW to other people. Keep the genetics alive.

If you're really interested in side branches on okra, then prune them. I haven't grown okra in a while because of fireants, but it can be pruned to encourage side branches.

Here is a real okra tree, 15 feet tall even. Photo taken at night, camera pointing almost straight up. This particular plant was 3 inches diameter at the base. It got bigger before the end of the season.

I appreciate you trying to sell your seeds and posting about your plants on occasion but you've bumped three old topics in the last week, to post the same pictures, and this is getting very spamy.

That post no longer shows, looks like the moderators might have stepped in to put a stop to it. Too bad gentle persuasion failed, from what George (Macmex) said in the other thread, he might have been able to offer some good advice... if he wasn't so focused on selling us something.

In case any of you gardeners is still lurking around this post, I'm looking for okra I grew several years ago and can't find online. Was told the name of it was Candelabra and I believe the pods were red. They grew all over the plant and the candle-like bunches of pods were extremely prolific repeaters. Almost looked like a Menorah. Anyone???
