Can I Put a Spider-Mite Infested Ivy Outside?

I was just watering my semi-new ivy plant, and noticed that it has--oh nooooooooo--spider mites.

I've never had a spider mite problem before. I'm horrified. I really, really, really don't want the problem to spread to my other houseplants. And from everything I've just read in this forum, it sounds like spider mites commonly attack indoor ivy plants. Many people said that they won't even try to have indoor ivy plants because of the problem.

So... now I am wondering if I can turn my indoor ivy into an outdoor ivy, or will doing so spread spider mites to my outdoor plants? I sure don't want to give spider mites to them, too!

Thanks very much for your help.
