Questions about houseplants - finding the right one

Hello one and all,

This is my first post here.

I'm trying to find a cheap but sturdy flowering house plant that needs little maintenance and does not require direct sunlight.

My local store has the following:

-potted tulips

-croton ("bush on fire") codiaeum (in too small a pot)

-gerbera

-begonia (though it has brown spots on the torn leaves)

-potted miniature roses (already beginning to bloom)

-cyclamen (already blooming)

How long does each bloom last?

For example, "A hyacinth lasts at most two weeks and (obviously) should be bought when it still looks like an acorn." Or, "Azaleas last much longer but need occasional trimming; buds will continue to appear."
