these little green eggs on apple leaves...

I am finding very tiny green eggs underneath the leaves on my apple trees. Are these aphid eggs? If not, what critter is laying them?

My new whips have exploded with life this spring but so far I have found green and brown inchworms, red ants, little black insects with tiny wings, caterpillars, and now these tiny green eggs. No wonder there are so many sprays! I have been walking through daily picking critters off.

Jellyman, I have not used any sprays yet. My local nurseryman says my job is to look out for caterpillars and Japanese beetles these first two years and maybe scale next year. So I haven't sprayed but I walk through daily and pick off critters. I must have done something right, they all have a lot of new growth, upwards of 8 inches already from just whips early last month.

So, what are the little green "eggs"?

They both look like plums of some sort, they are not sweet or sour cherries. Lets go through some of the problems. The little black bugs and yellow eggs are ladybug larvae and eggs. Those are the "good guys" eating the aphids, don't pull them off. The dead looking branches are probably due to brown rot blossom blight. It will feel slippery when wet if its brbb. The holes in the leaves are some form of shot hole. The galls are probably from some kind of mite. Its hard to tell what the long-term chances of the trees are but they need to get on a spray program if you want to keep them. Read up on these diseases/pests and their treatment, ask more questions if you have them! Scott

I clipped it down to a 3/4" nub, the end of the nub was green. I think it is fire blight, there are a few other places on it including a stretch mark that had a orangish hue to it. How could I have contracted fire blight if this tree didnt blossom this year? Aphids? Cali, thanks for the advice, ill bring it to the coop in town today. For reference, this variety is Orleans Reinette.

I'm not sure why kimmsr attached that link, because your little green larva is a caterpillar of one kind or another. Can't tell you which one, there are many, many caterpillars that are translucent green when young. Regarding the hose....I use my thumb at the end of the hose to create a fan spray with some pressure. You don't much pressure; the aphids aren't that difficult to knock off and you don't want to harm the leaves.

Update/clarification: The leaf pattern is more complex than I described. Basically the equilateral triangular pattern is made up of 3 smaller triangles, each with its outermost point being the tip of the largest leaf and then two smaller leaves making up the base of that triangle. Three of those triangular-shaped clusters form the primary triangle. Also, each of the 'sub-triangles' has its own cluster of little peppercorn-sized pale 'berries', so even the3 little clusters of berries form a triangle. The effect is a rather complex geometric pattern of leaves and of the plant as a whole. The leaf color is more a kelly green than a forest green - at least after the sun's been beating down on the plant for weeks. If this plant will grow indoors, it would make a beautiful houseplant.

I would also look for aphids. Aphids may be your thought-to-be "eggs."

I have found triazicide "Once and Done" pesticide, applied twice in a season, to be very effective. (I make a lot of apple chips so I have a very good idea of the frequency of bugs in my apples.) The product is applied immediately after petal fall and again 4 - 6 weeks later. I tried applying only once in a season but that was not enough.
