What houseplants benefit from slef-watering containers?

Recently, I have been noticing LOTS of selfwatering containers for sale.

Expensive to. ranging from 20$ all the way up to the 100's.

Probably for those that don't want the convienance of not watering at all, or correctly.

At my nursery, they have every kind of houseplant in them for sale.. They say all plants do well, because they are kept constantly moist, not wet, in a very well made soiless mix that is made specifically for them. I saw a palm and citrus tree in one...ouch?

What do you think?

Waste of money?

Which plants should be definatly kept out of these pots, and which ones would appreciate these kind of containers, if any?

I would assume to start, cactus and succulants is a no no.

A fern maybe?
