Should I pick off apple/cherry blossoms on newly planted trees?

Hi all,

I planted 3 small apple trees last spring (only 1 year in the ground, still very small) and one self-pollinating cherry tree (Lapins), which is basically still a stick with some short branches growing.

One of the apples (Williams Pride), and the cherry have a few blossoms on them. Of course I don't expect any fruit at this early age -- what I'm wondering is, should I pull off these blossoms to focus energy to the roots and leafing?

I'm not sure if this would make a difference or if it works for trees like this -- I know that was the advice when I first planted my blueberries.

Just wondering if it would be of any benefit?

Thanks

David NJ
