Silver satin Pothos help
Comments (30)the simplest thing to do is to put those cut-off vines in water until you see roots started (about 1/2 inch to 1 inch is good) - then you can plant them. it's better if they have 2 leaves at the end: if at this point you just have 1 leaf starting or just 1 lonely leaf at the end wait for 2 new leaves to grow, then cut them off. you'll need 2 extra leafless nodes after one with leaf: to insert into soil. if you have more then that just cut them off. not so easy to get soils in NYC, but home depo is your best bet. they have African violet mix and perlite: add about 1/3 perlite to av mix . reuse your large bark: take it off and soak it in hot water for 2 days, then cut it up to 1/2" :)))). I know it's too much to ask... if your pots are up to 6" it's not really necessary. bigger then that and adding 1/4 part smallish bark pieces will add aeration and drainage....See MoreI need Pothos help!
Comments (13)The roots that grow in water adapt to the water. They are different than roots that start in soil. Roots of all plants in soil must have oxygen. The stems are diseased from too much moisture. Pothos are a plant I think of as drench and drain plant. So you water really well, and then let the plant go dry down about 25% of the pot. For me this means when it's dry to the touch and I use a chopstick and stick it down to the roots, if it comes out dry = water, if it's moist at all = wait a day or two. Healthy plants need this dry time as much as they need water. When you water, lift the plant and feel it's weight, to use as a reference for how it feels when wet. Now when, it feels dry to the touch lift again. Soon you will get a feel for the weight and the look of the plant and know when to water and will not need the extra step with the chopstick. Keep in mind it will dry more quickly while growing over spring/summer. Plants use more water when they are growing, so you cannot schedule watering all year, it will change. Never get comfortable trusting a schedule, you always have to make the judgement if it is thirsty or needs to be left alone. I think that the care we often find for pothos makes them sound like they want more water than most plants. That's not so in my house. If your soil remains very wet in 4 or 5 days, the soil is holding too much water and needs to be grittier....See MoreNeon Pothos Help Needed
Comments (3)The leaves will stop from being damaged any further but will remain the way they are till they die off. And the browning on the stems are dry leaf sheaths which are perfectly normal. If you want you could gently peel or rub them off....See MorePothos Help! How to identify root rot?
Comments (3)Those roots don’t look very healthy. Roots should be white so unless there is a lot of dirt left on them they don’t look good to me and probably there is root rot. Do the roots feel soft and mushy, do they easily come apart if you tug on them? Pothos root pretty fast. If you want to try and save the plant, I would cut off all the brown roots and put the plant back in water to root again. If you are going to use miracle grow I would add perilite to the soil otherwise it retains too much water. Once back in soil, don’t fertilize until it puts out new growth. Hope this help.
