I had my feathers in a bucket with a loose plastic bag slung over it. I went into the garage and saw that the bag was on the floor, and when I reached down to pick it up, my "feathers" jumped out of the bucket at me! LOL! I have a pure white cat, Gina, and she thought the bucket was her exclusive nest! I nearly fainted, then laughed so hard I nearly....well.... uh.... you know. BB

I was painting one day and my cat came over to see what was going on. He sat on the paint can lid. When he got up, he had a blue butt! He kept running around and looking behind him. Once I stopped laughing, he got a good butt wash.

I grew up in an old nineteenth-century house with steep stairs and low windows. In the spring my two cats would go mad with excitement after the long winter and run helter-skelter up the front stairs, through the hallway, and leap onto the back window sill to gawk at the birds.

Occasionally one would be a bit too exuberant and we'd hear a screech, then a ominous thump-thump-thump-thump-thump as the windowsill was missed and a cat came tumbling down the stairs. We'd open the stairway door and the cat would come limping out, trying desperately to maintain some scraps of it's feline dignity.

Last night we heard a bunch of banging in the basement doorway, so I went to investigate the situation. I opened the door and to my amazement, my cat invited his new friend for dinner. I ran and got my camera and when I got back all Charcoal wanted to do was come inside, so I missed a good picture of them eating together.

Good stories and pics. guys. Does anyone else's dog try to eat their 'tufa mix (and not just because the cat has peed in it)? I have to keep my mix and my scraps away from the dog. For a smart dog, sometimes she ain't too bright.

Amy the pet's in our lives seem to want too be involved with our projects somehow. Even if it's a pee or a poop in our project. Hey~ Dogs eat the darndest things!!!!

I had a dog for a while that would eat anything. I had to keep my eye on the poop to make sure it passed okay. It ate: whole socks, small toys, ink pens, coins, letters. I don't have that dog anymore, I only fostered it for 4 months for the humane society, hope it didn't eventually kill itself! Most things passed thru whole. I had to remove anything smaller than a softball from its reach. BB

Kin, I think that is a young possum. When they get older, they become whiter and much larger. We have one that is the size of a beach ball and just as round. He comes around at night and finishes off the peanuts we put out for the birds. We have a little video camera out on the ground next to the birdseed so we can watch the birds, squirrels and other arrivals up close. I learned that possums are very slobby eaters and chew with their mouths open and the food just falls out of their mouths as they chew. Yeah...we're weird..

If you see small possums from the back, you could swear they're a rat! I remember years ago in college, sharing a small garage apartment with a friend I worked with. We worked at the same place at night and when she got off and went back to the apartment, she calls me in a frantic scream telling me there's a huge rat, the largest she has ever seen outside the house. Both of us had been raised on farms but I guess she still couldn't identify a possum and went hysterical.

When I was a kid, I remember one getting into a small back porch of our house and one of my brothers hitting it with a broom. It went into it's "playing possum" pose.

We have one too. He loves the cat food and is so fat he can barely waddle. The cats don't mind. Oh, and the birds just love the dry cat food. Blue Jays. They choose it over bird seed.

I have the same problem with the birds! The bluejays and the cardinals are eating the catfood, and the cats are just watching them!!! BB

My problem with my Jack Russell is that he steals my brushes and chews the handles. Among other annoying things that aren't tufa-specific.

What's with those blue jays. Ours steals the catfood to and land right next to the cats to get it. Cardnals will eat it too? They are making the wrong kind of bird feed at the stores I guess.

That's funny about the Blue jay's. Here we have the Blue Jay's and then what are called Scrub jay's. They are so noisy in the morning!!! They are the perfect robber of food and other things. The darn things even steal baby birds out of their nest's and eat them! I guess that's Nature, but I hate to see that.
They are fun to watch and they love too torment the Cat's & Dog's also.

That's funny Kin, the bluejays will go west, but the scrubjays won't come east. I watched the scrub jays when I was in Colorado. They seem like little devils. Alot of birds will eat young out of nests. Even the gentle little cedar waxwing. It's veal for birdies!

This doesn't really have anything to do with 'tufa ('cept that I LOVE IT), but it just happened, so I'm reeling from it. I just put my dirty clothes on the floor, which included a spaghetti strap tank top, and I turned around and found my cat EATING MY STRAP. It is totally gone. I don't know what is wrong with my cat. What would possess him??? What a weirdo! I hope that it doesn't get entangled in his intestines or else we will be visiting the vet in the next couple of days. YIKES!

Be sure to give him lots of lax-a-tone or something slick and oily so it will pass easier. He must be craving pasta like Garfield. As long as it isn't a real long piece, it will probably be alright. My mother's cat will eat soap, anything peppermint and loves the smell of bleach. Really nutty.

This has nothing to do with a project, but my Great Dane decided he was going to make pasta!!! I had bought a 5 pound bag of angel hair pasta noodles, and he got into it and I came in to pasta all over the kitchen floor, plus some in the den. Boy, is that hard to clean up! It doesn't sweep so well, and the vacuum doesn't want to pick it up, either. I missed the oportunity to snap a picture. What a mess. Good thing it was dry, and not cooked! BB

Oh, these made me giggle. :-) I have a heck of a time keeping the cats out of the photos of my projects! Just when I have the perfect camera angle, someone's tail will get in the picture. My bf and I refinished his hardwood floor last weekend and we had to keep his cats out of the room, that was a trick. It went well, except when I took a picture before we dusted and started to varnish, the cat got in the front door, and of course, trotted right through as I snapped a picture. I have her labelled as "the inspector".

ginamarina, I just saw your cat enclosure, and I had to laugh. I have one, also. My cats have the use of an enclosed porch, and outside of that I fenced in an area 16 feet by 8 feet with chickenwire, so they can go watch the birds. I live only 40 feet off of a busy road, and they would get run over if I let them go out on the road, so I gave them some fresh air room! Looks just like yours!! Some of them actually have house privileges, cause they are good, and some do not, cause they pee on anything. :( If they were all good, they would all have house privileges. I have 17 cats that have found their way to my home one way or another. Five are outside all the time, cause they never go near the road. I made the enclosure when one of mine got hit, and the vet bills came to over $500.00. He is fine, now, but does not have yard privileges!! Wish I was way back from the road. BB

ginamarie, you're right about the cat tail in the lens routine! My boyfriend has a dog and a cat and when I try to take pictures of both of them separately, somehow she, the cat, will manage to get the end of her tail in his, the dog's, picture everytime. I never know she's even there until the picture is taken and then I have a magnified view of black cat tail hair partially covering his picture. But if you want her to come to you....well, no...then she's impossible to get!

Butterfly Bush, I have the "getting on the road" problem taken care of with the cat. I've taken her keys away and she only gets to drive on weekdays! :)
