See link to a discussion on this site. A simple net search well yield tons of info. Read the promotional stuff with a guarded eye & pay closer attention to any practical anecdotal information. Though I've not yet used it, I have a very trusted and knowledgeable source who thinks it's not the answer to all things horticultural.
I've been using ZeoPro for at least a year. It is granular, white in color with some black specs. It has no odor and not dusty. I'm just a regular gardener always looking for a new product to try. ZeoPro was invented by NASA and all that it claims to be is true, based upon my own experience. For example, my herbs planted outdoors last summer using ZeoPro were about three times bigger than the same herbs grown without Zeopro. I use it with roses, orchids and basically all my plants, flowers and vegetables. The way you use it is to mix it into your soil or any potting mix. The science behind it is that it works with the plant's root system, so the better you mix it into your soil or potting mix, the better the results. The ZeoPro that is being sold now is the horticultural grade. Try Gardeners Wholesale Direct in Texas or Tindara Orchids in Massachusetts. It may not be the answer to all your hort/gardening problems, but it is one of the best products I've ever used. It is designed to be a all in one plant food, soil amendment, slow release fertilizer and soil conditioner. I'm not trying to hype it up, just letting you know my personnal experience. I've been gardening for over 40 years, so I know a little about what works and what doesn't.
I believe I am detecting (at best) some "questionable cause" or "post hoc" reasoning in Tina's post. That she reports her plants are larger (than a control group?) than expected is not necessarily indication that the reason is attributable to ZeoPro. In other words, because A is associated with B, we cannot unequivocally say that A is the cause of B (questionable cause). Similarly, because B follows A (first I used a product, then my plants got bigger), we cannot attribute the cause of B to A (post hoc). This kind of reasoning is very prevalent on these forums.
I'll continue to remain rather skeptical of the somewhat expansive claims set forth in the link Tina provided. While the product may well have merit, I wouldn't say the link provided leads to any to "Advanced Soil Science". It is a commercial by folks selling a product. If the claims on a bottle of Superthrive were true, it would seem that all we need do is ad a drop or two to irrigation water & worry about having a machete on hand to clear a room to room path through the vegetation.
Forgive me Tina - my intent is not to discredit you, but to note that the likelihood of this product being as beneficial as touted are low. This is not to say it may not have benefit at all. As noted on another forum, a recent conversation with a scientifically minded man who did his Master's thesis on "Moisture Relationships and Irrigation of Container-Grown Nursery Stock" (and who has used ZeoPro) shows that he has abandoned it's use, citing that "I didn't see results that made feel I can't do without this (ZeoPro). This man has a national following for his plant and soil expertise.
For any reading this post: By all means, try it & see what you think, but don't expect miracles or even plants trebled in size. Though the previous poster's intent was not to "hype it up", I believe there is more than a little hype involved.
Remember please - it's only one man's opinion you just read, but I'll suffer any fallout from it.
Quite the follow-up. Sounds like you know alot about ZeoPro. Are you connected with ZeoPro in any way? Sounds like you may even be a competitor??
My reasoning and comments about ZeoPro are just based upon my own, unscientific observations of how well my plants grow. Over the years, I have tried all the fertilizers on the market. ZeoPro just seemed to work for me. I have about one acre of growing space and grow all kinds of plants from hostas, orchids and giant pumpkins. I have even won blue ribbons at local Fairs.
Regardless of the fertilizer, isn't it is all a commercial.
Have you tried ZeoPro and experienced the results yourself or are you basing all your comments on the master's thesis on "Moisture Relationships and Irrigation of Container-Grown Nursery Stock?"
Who is the man that has a national following for his plant and soil expertise? I would like to get more information.
I am trying to find source for ZeroPro or Zeolite here in Dallas area. Cannot locate "Gardeners Wholesale Direct in Texas" that you mentioned. Additional info will be appreciated, thanks.
