Too much vegetative growth in my pomegranate tree

ashleysf

I have a 6 year old pomegranate tree - the nursery labeled it as "Utah Sweet", which I think is just the usual "Sweet" variety of pomegranate. It is 7 ft tall. It used to give me fruit in the earlier years. But, recently, it is putting out massive amounts of vegetative green growth and hardly any flowers at all. It actually put out 2 flowers last year and this year, none so far. I am wondering what is going on with this tree. I fertilize it once a year with all purpose granular time release fertilizer and that is it. It gets watered once a week in summer. Anything I can do to induce flowering in it? thanks!
