The 1st 14 to go out, was probably "sumwhare"s. "sumwhare", let me know if you don't get any. Today, these will be going out... "sophie" ~ "cowbow dad" ~ "Sarah" & "Vaflowernut" I'm still figuring out "grdngramma" & "seedkeeper" "mrsmodernhousewife" is ready, but waiting on an address. If you requested seeds, but don't get any in a week, let me know, I don't deliberately overlook people, but with so many different IDs, emails, etc, it is possible that your request got lost among them. Ahhh, I understand. Seeds aren't plants, but they will become plants. Garlic cloves aren't seeds, they are bulbils which grow and produce more bulbils. Some garlics will produce topsets which can be broken apart and planted like bulbils, and some produce genuine seed which you can germinate like any allium. Seed forming garlic can become pesky if you don't deadhead it. Your own garlic hasn't been treated with a sprouting inhibitor, that's why your own cloves produce bigger bulbs--they start their growth when they are planted. Garlic that you purchase for planting has been cleaned, sorted and stored. It is usually sprayed with a low-intensity (non-premanent) growth inhibitor to keep it from sprouting before it goes back into the ground. It can take several weeks with sufficient rain or watering to cycle the inhibitor from the garlic before it can start growing. You can use the Winter Sowing Method for starting your tomato seeds to provide natural, acclimated germination which will have them growing in tune to your local climate. Hello!
I'm new to seed trading. I would love to have some of your tomato seeds. Can you tell me what IND means DTM means day to maturity Correct?
I'm in South Florida and we're in mid tomato season so I guess I'll need some that come to maturity quickly. Summer is really hard on tomatoes here.
If you think you have some seeds that will grow here, I'll send an envelope according to directions on Weds.

Hi Barb,

IND means Indeterminate. The tomato plant will lengthen its stems throughout the entire growing season. It will continue to fruit and flower until stopped by frost.

DET meanse Determinate. The stems are much shorter, they reach their length and set most of their fruits in a relatively short period of time. DETs are a good choice if you are canning your tomatoes or making batches of sauce for your freezer--you have the bulk of fruits to work in the kitchen.

DTM is Days to Maturity. A long time ago I learned that DTM is the number of days to first crop from the time a four inch transplant is planted in the garden.

I'll paste in a link for some good information about tomatoes and their growth habit.
