HAVE: hardy cyclamen

pink and white mix. harvested in september; so still fresh.

these sweeties grow like weeds in my garden. the ants like to carry them out of my shrub borders because there is a kind of sticky sweet coating on the seeds. and they do seem to drop a lot on their way to wherever they are going because over the years my back lawn has transformed into a cyclamen lawn.

But! they are not in any stretch of the imagination a 'weed'. they really are quite refined and i would never be without them.

look it up:

cyclamen hederifolium.

here in oregon, i have harvested the seed and sprinkled them into a small seed bed and left them out in the open to the elements and i'm pretty sure that every seed or more germinated to make a small bulbil that set out out a lovely set of leaves their first season. easy-peazy.

i've got lots of seed, but not much energy because i'm getting so damn old, as you can tell by my rambling post, so i will accept the first 5 responses with a bubble lined sase.

and i would ask that those folks would freely share with other gardenwebbers.

I would love to trade for some. I have uhm lets see Daylilies lots of different colors (lots and lots of daylilies) some are lost tag.Most would be crosses example mancatcher x tangerine horse Other nice bright crosses with Santas Little Helper ,Celestial Shore,NEW PERSPECTIVE and Linda Beck and many many many more. Have Hardy Cyclamen seeds

I can send you 6 seeds just collected from Acer japonicum Acontifolium 'Dancing Peacock' . I soaked them for 24 hours in water and then refrigerated them. I also have other JM seeds just collected but do not know the cultivars, they have beautiful fall foliage. This is my first year to experiment with JM seed. Also have other items on my trade list, although I am in Zone 7b, probably alot of them would not survive in your Zone.Thanks Sherry

Well, bad news. My 2'X2' patch of cyclamen blossoms, with now unfurling leaves, was beneathe just 2 massive bulbs. Hopefully, I didn't kill it with the investigation. Separated them, so maybe a good thing. What else are you looking for instead, Judy? I have some special things like a pot of unfurling Aurum instead? Or Impatiens omeiense or Viola 'Dancing Geisha'? Or a hepatica or brunnera? Does anyone have some of the zombie Impatiens I brought a while back? Mine died, so I'd be grateful for a start. Anyone new to the swap! These posts are prearranged 'special swaps', but the bulk of the plants are just brought and swapped with no plans. On John's signal, we all just grab one plant per family. Then we do it again until the plants are gone. Then we eat.

Well I never: I live in Hamilton, ON! We have the same area growers! I got my last batch of good ones, the small kind, from Holland Park, Burlington, in December. Have also had good ones from Fortino's supermarkets. Maylingsmom, I might give that a try. I have both hederifolium and coum in the garden, but they are marginally hardy here, and my clay soil does not help any. I keep on trying, as they are one of my favourite flowers.
