Pics from the veggie plot (long w/ photos)

Here are a few pics from my vegetable plot. We have a large dog and

several flower beds (created by HD before we met) on our small city

lot, so my vegetable, raspberry and strawberry patch are at mom and

dad's place. The sunflowers, melons and potatoes in the foreground

and right of pic are my cousin's plot. Don't know how she plans on

mounding those potatoes with black fabric mulch over them.

Considering how wind and sun burnt her melon vines were when

transplanted, they're looking very healthy.

My sweet husband built the raised beds for me this season. There are

16 pepper plants  mostly red and orange sweet with a few pimento,

jalapeno and pablano. After 2 and ½ inches of rain last week and more

than an inch the week before, some of the peppers and the one datura

have some drooping leaves. Need to buy a dry fertilizer if this rain

persists. Iris and lily will be transplanted to a country home with

more property once we escape from the People's Republic of Cleveland.

The backside of raised beds. I think the trellis is 8' tall.

Raspberry patch is in the background. Dusted it with Sevin because of

Japanese Beetles. I'm fortunate that I've never had BER or pests on my

tomato plants so they haven't been dusted. However, any organic

suggestions for keeping the moths out of my kale would be appreciated.

Close-up of raised tomato bed. Sorry  but I just love taking pictures of them!

First year growing brandywine and all three plants have green fruit.

Here are my Fragissimo strawberries that I started from seed 5 months

ago. Lots of runners but no berries. Supposedly they're an ever

bearing with pink blossoms. Going to transplant a few into the

strawberry patch in early fall or late summer.
