Hello James, I would love to get some persimon and eastern redbud seeds. Also thanks for the reminder about eastern red cedar. I have to go out and collect some of those before they disappear. Send me your address and I will send out the Ginkgo seeds. You can determine how many of your seeds they are worth when they arrive. If you do not plan on sowing them immediately, keep them moist and put them in the refrigerator. Whoa, that`s amazing, my old thread popping back to life again. @gardengal: thanks for those cultivar names. I looked them up, according to my (very good) tree book, Autumn gold and Princeton S grow less tall (about 15 - 20 meter) than the plain species (20 meter -30 meter). plans changed, we planted just one Ginkgo (a seedling) which now just needs to keep growing. I looked up the link of the "plants for the future"-site, but as those folks seem rather into "saving the world" and "grow your own" I reckon their detailed botanical knowlegde might be not too scientific, kind of (the angle of branches are often an indicator of age, like: steep angle with juvenile trees, wider angle with mature...IME) inspired by all yous answers I did read up some more on the internet: to summ it up: 1) so, differences between young male or female seedlings in morphology don`t seem to exsist 2) as trees take decades to mature and flowers there are stories around of "transvestite" trees 3) shape of leaves varies very much, not only between different trees but even on one plant that link seemed to offer very solid information solid Ginkgo information and that short one from 1983 seems to be also very well based (have trouble linking that pdf, click the Joa-arboretun-link) Growth, survival and sex expression well, thanks a lot, have a nice week, bye, Lin
