Wow... good point Al. I totally forgot about that. *whoosh* OW - Don't you mean.. lower to 6? If you have a way to directly measure the pH, then it doesn't really matter what kind of water you use. Just add the vinegar or acetic acid until you get the desired pH for the irrigation water. If you don't want to mess with the irrigation water, and you're okay with an imprecise change, you could use acidified cotton burr compost. It contains sulfur that is at least partially metabolized, and is often used as an acidifying soil amendment for Roses and Azaleas. It's commonly used both in the ground, and in containers. I don't know much about it, but you can find plenty of information online. I'm confused, are soil from your land in the containers? Or do you also want to try growing blueberries in the ground, and want to acidify the soil quickly? If you're using raised beds and adding a lot of new soil / amendments, most good nurseries sell an Azalea or Rose bedding mix that is fairly acidic. The quick fix is ammonium sulfate, but it's extremely hard for the non-professional to use properly, and is very detrimental to your soil biology. No amendment or product can really change your soil's pH permanently - you have to keep treating it at least every season.

Marc, Thanks,they were started last Summer,late July/early August.I had just started growing Blueberries for the first time in late Spring and after reading about propagating them,I tried it.After at least forty cuttings from the tops of plants with new growth,five rooted and survived. I learned some things,most important is they need moisture,(the leaves especially,not the soil)which I'd only do again with some kind of misting setup,also not a whole lot of sunlight,(a whole tray was lost because of a short time in the sun)and I'd start earlier,like sometime in Spring,but it was not known to me at that time until Summer.Here is a link to an earlier post about it.Brady Here is a link that might be useful: Blueberry cuttings questions

Any suggestions on how to plant them (what order etc). I'm not 100% sure where I"m going to plant what I have coming (they are going into 3 gallon containers to start with). I believe that they will be in single rows spaced appropriately, surrounding the perimeter of the back of my property. Not so much to make a hedge, but at least in that format/layout

I'd say you are correct-the plant from which modern cultivated varieities sprang would indeed be far older than 13000 yrs. Could it be that what you saw was an estimate of the time this plant has been in cultivation? That would at least make sense. +oM
