Oregano leaf tips turning brown/black
Comments (1)It could be most anything, from an overcrowded pot to too much watering. Try and think back the past few weeks and recall of any fertlizers or sprays were used on it. If its indoors, it may need more sunlight. If its bugs, you may see tiny black gnats that are called fungus gnats and these can destroy plants, as well as infect every single plant indoors our outside. One way to know if its the gnats is to use yellow sticky traps and set one horizontally on the edge of the pot. Wait several hours, and if you see tiny flies stuck there, you have the gnats. My garden suffers from these as well, so I use either a Bt product to kill the maggots they produce (feed on the roots!), and also beneficial nematodes. It can also come from any soil you use as well as reused pots that are not sterilzed, and could even be in indoor plants right now. Oregano is one herb that doesn't like fertilizers and too much water. If its gnats, they can fly throughout the whole house and infest every single indoor plant too!...See Morebaby hardy plam leaf tips turning brown
Comments (2)It sounds like this palm is inside, and even though you didnt describe your hardy palm (there are many), I think you have a windmill palm. Most palms brown indoors when its too dry, which is caused by the heat being on. Just mist it and water it well and it should at least make it to the summer. Once summer comes and it goest outside (april is probably a good time to take it out) it will grow much better. But all the cold tolerant palms are relatively slow growing especially while young, so dont expect too much growth. Good luck!...See MoreTomato Leaf Curl, Yellow Spots, Yellow Leaf w/ Brown Spots
Comments (8)The plants in self-watering containers and in 5-gallon grow bags are both exhibiting the leaf roll. However, I do have 2 5-gallon grow bags that have plants in partial shade which do not exhibit leaf roll and are just as big, if not bigger, than those in the self-watering containers. I'm thinking the leaf roll may be root stress related. Either the 5-gallon containers/bags have become too small, the container gets too hot thus stressing the roots, or the potting soil has finally compacted and isn't delivering enough oxygen to the roots. I have tomato plants in raised beds as well and I haven't noticed any leaf roll with them. I have noticed a few had yellowing leaves w/brown spots (3rd picture), however....See MorePalm fronds turning yellow/brown
Comments (2)seems like frost damage... often palms get burned but the damage starts being visible weeks later when weather warms up. cold hardy potted palms are notorious for getting winter damage because even with low temperatures the pot freezes and the plant is unable to provide enough water to the leaves when they receive direct sunlight. washingtonias and cycas revoluta are notorious for getting these burns. i always covered my potted palms or moved them to a shadier spot in winter if there are extreme temperature swings or alot of sunlight exposure with a frozen root ball. check these pictures Note the tips of those washingtonia that look dried are similar to your trachycarpus palms. just make sure the spear ( where the new folded leafs come out of the stem) is intact and robust. trachycarpus can get 50 % leaf burn and easily survive.. i've had trachycarpus of a few years old that completely lost all their leaves and survived as long the spear is intact and as long the spear doesn't have any fungal infection they are fine. yours have around 10 % maybe 20 % burn that is nothing to worry about. cut away all dried and damaged foliage but don't cut into the green foliage. if they weren't in pot but in full ground they probably wouldn't have this damage. also remember that these palms are very cold hardy.....See Morecliff98
