Ok,I haven't done this one in 2-3 yrs and it will make a great Thanksgiving/Christmas present for someone in need in these hard times.

My kitchen table is still covered with seeds-seeds-and more seeds. Turkey-Day is coming up and I'm going to need table for food prep so seeds gotta go.

Acts of Random Kindness will be 20 packs of vegetable,herb and flower seeds of my choice.

These seeds are "NOT FOR YOU". If you know someone in need of food for their tables(and a few pretty flowers for the heart and soul)and like to or needs to put in a garden.Here's how it works. You send me BEAP w/ name and address of deserving friend,neighbor or family in need and I will send them 20 varieties of seeds with note saying someone from this gardening web site has sent them to them as an Act of Random Kindness.I won't reveal your name and you shouldn't either because that takes away form the purpose of the Random Act....but I can't NOT make you reveal yourself.

All responses here will come to my email automaticaly so:

1)UNBLOCK YOUR EMAIL..I won't back track to find you and will delete blocked emails.

2)Respond here only. No private emails or "You have email",I live in state of "Confussion" all the time so don't confuse me any further.

3)I need a padded envelope of apx.7x9 or closest to that size but NO SMALLER

4)Postage...apx.$1.35...in stamps...NO MONEY.

5)Self adhesive,self addressed label..."CAN NOT" be your name or address but for someone you know loves to garden and is having a hard time putting food on the table and making ends meet.

I will take 10 request now and will re-post once there done and if I have seeds left.

What a great idea! I don't know anyone looking for food seed but what a great act of kindness it would be!!

I sent you an email about a trade for your speckled balloon flower seeds, I'm not sure that you got it. I have hakone dbl white and celosia cristata, they are the brain type that your looking for.

Ok, I can see it's addictive as all get out. Here I am Begging for starts from all of you. I'll probably be as bad as Karyn in a year or two. Can't wait to get some cuttings from both of you. Chop chop snip snip, oh what a wonderful Brug I'm going to get. I've been singing that all day while I was working pulling weeds and a little fall clean up outside. I don't think I'll ever get it all done before the first frost. And Mike you need a good old fashion spanking for giving us newbies a link to look at Monika's ANOUSCHKA. Tempting us and we can't even get one. LOL Thank God I probably couldn't afford one of them anyway on my fixed income. (grin) But I can always dream about getting one that beautiful. It's really true there are so many good people in the world. Your story is fantastic Annie! Very memorable. This weekend, we played the Florida Gators on Saturday. It was unseaonably cold, so coffee was in order. Evidently, all the fans thought so, as Starbucks was packed! The man in front of me, a Florida fan, obviously not a Nashvillean (nor a Vandy fan, as I am!), asked his daughter to save his place in line because he had to take his son to the bathroom. She didn't want to. When I offered to save his place, he seemed wary??? but let me. We ended up having a nice conversation. I hope he left Nashville a bit happier to have met us, but I wondered did he not encounter this behavior often enough that he needed to be wary? I think most people are farily friendly. Curious. The neighborhood I just moved to, it is the standard for people who are driving stop and pull over to let cars, bicyclists, runners, etc. pass. It's a "cut through" street, that is only 5-10 minutes from downtown, so it is somewhat unusual, but I really like it! Nice, easy-paced, kind people. Makes me feel all warm inside to drive down the street and have city folk waving hello to me. I always say thank you when someone holds the door. It doesn't bother me if someone doesn't say thank you (what bothers me is someone rushing to go out the door I am opening to go in, but those folks are rare, THANKFULLY!). I also let the person who held the door for me go in front of me in line, if there is one. You'd be amazed how amazed they are. I tell them, "Just because you held the door doesn't mean you end up farther back in line, that's not fair!" Nine times out of ten, they won't take the place. I like those nine the best, the most gentlemanly.

The nice thing about your dollar store scenario is 100% of your money goes directly to someone in need! I try to help too. Today I am going a bit out of my way to do the afternoon high school carpool so the afternoon driver doesn't have to do it. I have to be out this afternoon anyway (to pick up overnight clothes for my daughters friend) because I am helping another kids Mom by keeping her daughter overnight. The Mom is flying to NY to check her sister with stage 4 cancer out of the hospital and get her on a plane to fly home (Carribean). Hopefully the karma gods will hold off on the expected bad weather till I'm home!

mscsippy's cat story reminded me of a RAOK I did 4-5 years ago. A local elementary school had closed due to budgets and attendance -- the school was a couple miles out of town, so the school was consolidated with the larger one in town. In August/September that year, I was at the school to vote on something since it is used as an election precinct. Upon walking around the school (very nice, new construction, such a shame it was closed), I came upon a very hungry semi-feral cat. Nearby empty cat food cans were evidence that someone was coming by every now and then to feed it, but not very often. I started coming by at least every other day to leave a can and a bowl of dry food in a somewhat protected area. In time, I worked up a schedule on a calendar so that other visitors would know when the cat had been fed. Custodial workers removed the signs several times, but I persisted. At times the cat would come towards me, but never close enough to pet. In time it seemed content to hang out at the end of an 8 foot bench, with me at the other end. In November, while feeding the cat, I ran across a mother and daughter -- the mother, Katy, told me about the cat -- she had been the school mascot and she was named "Banshee", and until the school closed she had been taken care of by the school custodian, who of course no longer worked there. Winter was upon us by this time, so, since Banshee had once been a sociable cat, Katy and I decided to try and capture her and find her a home. It was quite an endeavor, with two tries over two days no luck at all. We had luck on the third try, with some subterfuge in getting Banshee into the cat carrier, but we did it. We took her to a vet and paid for vaccinations and Feline Leukemia test/vaccination. Thank goodness she had already been spayed. After spending $100 or so on getting her up to snuff, which neither of us could really afford at the time (she a single mother, me unemployed), I took her home, tried to bath her (no go), and sequestered her in a bathroom since my two cats would NOT have been happy to make her aquaintance. They were VERY curious though. I put an ad in craigslist seeking adoption of this wonderful cat who would require some long needed TLC. After a couple of inquiries, I found the right couple who would give her the time needed to completely socialize her again. I know I can do more for my fellow human, but somehow helpless animals need our attention too.

This is great. I tried to do an act of kindness today! Got a very rude email from that person. I was kind surprised by the attitude I got. Wont do that again. WOW. I share my stash with many here each holiday season. You are great to do this for others. You have given me inspiration to do more for others here.
