Report on Surround-soaked footsies for peaches and peach scab
Comments (7)Olpea - thanks for the link. It's interesting. I bookmarked it for future reference Fruitnut - thanks for the correction. I often get them confused. I'll try leaving some peaches without protection next year to see what I get. The leaves look good. With description Scott mentioned (in the old post) re. what to look for, and the picked on Olpea's link, I think it's more like scab. For all I know, I could have both!!!...See MorePowdery Mildew - my organic experience
Comments (4)rhizo: Housekeeping, as in, removing diseased dying leaves? I have been for pumpkins, not so much for my cucurbits because they are very dense. I remove what I can, but there are some dead leaves pretty buried within the vines. I am not sure the cause of the dead leaves (is there a natural amount of leaves that die on a vine from "natural" (i.e., non disease/pest) causes? I'm going to post another problem today with photos. Some of my butternut squash leaves are VERY chlorotic, and some dying, and I can't tell the cause, as others are healthy and green. (I don't think it's PM, but who knows?) I look forward to your expertise(s). rhizo ... if there's something else I'm missing as far as "housekeeping" is concerned, please let me know! :) Thanks for taking the time to be concerned and answer. -Veronica...See MoreComprehensive budget range hoods thread
Comments (29)I have purchased several hoods from Proline for a few kitchens I designed, starting in early 2011 and the most recent was in june 2012. They have really nice and beautiful hoods and I love that they are logo-less. In my experience, there can be issues with the customer service on certain models or things that go on back order if you get unlucky, which it seems Kathleen1945 did. This happened to me when I ordered one that was shipping from a different warehouse and it was backed up. But I just talked to them and changed to a model they had in stock and there wasn't any problem. The thing you do when dealing with them is simply call them first and make sure they have it in stock and that they don't have any issues with the one you want. you really won;t have any problems. One of my hoods I found out had a a problem with the fan in it that was making it really noisy, I guess they said one of the propellers got reversed or something. I didn't have any trouble getting them to immediately replace it. All of the other ones were fine when they arrived. If you are on a budget, this is the best place to get a vent hood. It is kind of a bummer they don;t sell other kitchen appliances. Proline's hoods are great if you want something that is good quality but are ok with it not having a Viking logo on it. I think it is odd that somebody would buy one of these hoods and then pay somebody $600 to install it, the hole point of these hoods is that they are inexpensive and if you are even mildly handy you can install it yourself and save tons of money. Buying a proline instead of a Viking and installing it myself instead of paying a contractor saves me about $2000. Just like buying ANYTHING online, you can get really good deals on great stuff, but you have to be smarter about it than you would if you walked into a store. I personally would go with this model I linked instead of that one at the beginning of this thread. It's cheaper and it's prettier. Here is a link that might be useful: This Hood...See MoreReport cards and Progress reports..
Comments (15)The report structure is as follows : we have 14 criteria.. when we receive a task ( eg essay), we are graded on 2-4 criteria on that particular task... after the criteria have been assessed various times, a trend is set for those selected criteria.. at the end of each month, the 14 criteria trends ( A-F) are examined and a ratings are given accordingly ( oustanding, high achievement, satisfactory, needs improvement, failure to complete, ) The critiria we are assessed on ( for the letter grades are) 1> Can use key terms and concepts 2> Recall and understand facts and information 3> Plan, organise and undertake activities 4> Present a reasoned opinion ( in essay format usually) 5> Collect, analyse and organise information 7> Work with others in teams 8> Commmunicate ideas effectivly 9> Understand the influence of culture upon the construction and interpretation of texts 10> Use technology to access information and compose text 11> Set and achieve goals through reflection and negotiation 12> use correct spelling, punctuation and grammer 13> speak and listen effectivly 14> Evaluate conclusions in relation to evidence The report contains a checklist of skills and learning behaviors... This is discussed in the parent /teacher / student interview. During the meeting short time goals are set, ( such as working on particular criteria or developing vocabulary or improving writing clairty).. If the student successfully meets this goal and improvement has been made encouragement is given. If a parent finds a discrepancy between how the student performs in the classroom and during tests, it is discussed immediatly.. Not all kids at my school agree with the parent intereaction... ( generally students who do not endeavour to obtain good grades )... When teachers spend time thinking about the student when they write reports, they develop a greater understanding of how individual student learns.... Before acceptance into the school parents are made aware of the high interaction. Not all parents want to ( or have time to) attend the meetings, and in this case the student and teacher do this alone and a letter is sent home containing what was discussed) Our school genuinly believes in promoting parental involvement and participation... This has raised expectations for student, who now knows that more eyes are on them.......See Morelycheeluva
