Say hello to my new baby son

Meet Matthew Edward, born this morning at 2am.

Itsd now 10 pm and Im shattered!

Mind you Ive had it easy compared to mum who is still in hospital after an emergency Caesarian-not nice and shes really pale, but pulling through!

Thank you everyone for all the prayers, good thoughts and kind words. The hearing went well but the ALJ (administrative law judge) did not give me his final decision, I'll have to wait for that, 6 weeks to 6 months. After nearly three years of waiting, what's another six months eh? Pfft..yeah right! LOL!! My son and his girlfriend are doing better. GF is going back to work on Monday and is feeling so much better. My son is up and using crutches some, I have heard. I've not been able to speak to him because his cell phone is shut off at the moment. Why do kids procrastinate such things?? His employer told him to heal well and not to come back to work until he is 100 %. He saw the film of the accident on the news so he knew it was bad already when DS called in. Anyway, I saw his father yesterday and he did not know if appointments for the specialist have been made or not. He was going to stop by and check in on them but I have not heard anything yet. I'll let you know when I know anything. Day two and still no lower back pain!! It's a miracle, I am just in awe over it. I always thought acupuncture was probably all in the mind but I was very wrong. I don't know how it works but I love what it has done for me in just two treatments!! I know it will be short lived but I am going to enjoy every second of it while I have it. My yard is calling to me but I am resisting so far. Actually I feel completely exhausted and I'm wondering if it is a reaction of my body because it has suddenly been relieved of the burden it has been under for so long. All day I just wanted to go in and lay down. Tomorrow, I think I'll give in to that feeling, if it is there again. Thanks for all the support. Hello from a fellow Puget Sounder! Hubby and I are currently researching the building of our dream home up on Whidbey Island (our property looks out over Saratoga Passage) and we have visions of a shingle sided cottage. Like you, we're hoping for low maintenance, and our research so far seems to indicate that if you pick the right shingles and if they are applied properly, they should easily last 30 to 50 years with little or no maintenance required. (We built a very nice arbor and fence 20 years ago with Alaskan yellow cedar; the wood has held up very well, despite lots of shade and rain, with no rot and without the need for stain or paint - we just allowed it to age to a nice silvery gray.) That's all good advice. Don't respond to the baby talk, except to say you can't understand it. Ignore the other behavior as long as everyone is safe. Denying him anything baby is only going to make it seem more appealing. Let him see for himself, it's not so good. Also, go through his baby book/pictures. He lives in the moment, the fact that he was a baby himself is maybe a fact he's heard, but doesn't remember or feel. Let him see he DID do all those baby things, and yet how much he has grown, how much he has learned, and can do for himself. My kids were each about 3 when the next one was born. It really is a great spacing. Soon you will see your first born fall in love, give love to his new sibling w/no expectations, unconditional. It will melt your heart! This will pass. Be patient. Remember how your first turned your life around, that is what he feels now. This is a big change in his life, he is figuring it out as best he can. Your whole family will readjust and it will be just fine.

I would never want that many children myself but I have great respect for this family. The children are taught responsibility and family love and that is what is missing in so many homes today. I see nothing wrong with the older ones taking care of the younger ones. Both of my parents came from large families and this technique was used. The siblings grew up close and I have never heard of any resentment expressed by any of my aunts or uncles. In fact, the memories they told intriqued me and made me realize that they had their priorties in order. They did not need or have the frills of today but what they did have, they appreciated and respected. Older children taking care of younger siblings---isn't that how it used to be done years ago and somewhere along the line, families started giving children less and less responsibility. And today, many people do not know how to take care of themselves much less anyone else. I don't think the mother is very often given the credit that she deserves. She homeschools those kids so her time is not just sitting around on her butt while the older children babysit. It also said on one of the programs that the mother exclusively takes care of the baby for several months while baby is still breast feeding. And, it also mentioned that Jennifer, the next to the baby, was just moved from the parents bedroom to the girls room. I just think that the parents are not always given a fair shake and NO, I do not want that many children but this family is not relying on the system to take care of these children so more power to them. The Duggars have income other than the reality show and to me, I have no problem with them earning extra money with the show. I find the values and beliefs they express is a wonderful example when so many families today are dysfunctional.

Oh, LARRY! I had no idea you'd been so BUSY lately. And that Katie was TWO now! Sheesh, when I posted I hoped to see pix I certainly didn't mean to intrude or anything. C's arent the fastest to recover from, nor helpful if you're feeding, but as she is doing well, we will move on.

My baby is 19 but it seems like just yesterday we were in your shoes. It will be so wonderful when mum gets back home and back on her feet and your family will be complete.

We felt that way after our 2 daughters completed our family. And then our oops pregnacy came along and our son made our family REALLY complete.

Enjoy that rosy little baby. Boy-oh-boy!

Both I and my two younger sisters were Caesareans, and I well remember the time Mother had getting over my sisters. (Don't actually remember her getting over me for some reason.) I was told--not seriously at all--that I caused it 'cause I tried to go through a bone instead of around it. I was born with a big dent in my forehead. I was told it filled in solid with bone. That sounds kinda like someone was cruel, but it was made very clear that was not serious, and I still snicker a bit. Probably why I'm so thick-headed. Beautiful little man, Larry! Look at those long fingers! Maybe he'll be a musician.
