I have a problem with my pink princess. The leaves were big and pretty when I got it then I decided to take a cutting of it. Since then it has put out VERY small leaves just at the base of the plant and the whole plant looks sick. Any suggestions on how to get this plant healthy again and the leaves to grow large again?? I have it in a potting mix with extra peat and have it in a clay pot with good drainage and a suacer and I don't let it set in water so tannic acid can get to it. It is in the bathroom with brite shade and humidity. It only has one large leaf left and it is looking sickly. I'm afraid I will lose it. Thanks for any suggestions. Well, I just cut the very very top off, where the new aberrant all pink branch came out. It had some roots attached, so I potted it, I don't know why, it has only ever made those all pink leaves and they only last about a week before they turn brown and fall off. Leona, having the all pink leaves is pretty, but they don't support the plant well. There's no green part to photosynthesize well I guess....its kind of like the all white leaves that come out sometimes on variegated ALocasia macrorhizza...once the plant starts with a majority of all white leaves it usually declines because it can't produce food. I usually remove those offsets and discard them. I don't know it this little cutting will take ot not, if it does I hope it makes some bicolor leaves.

It needs more humidity than other philos. Lack thereof will cause the leaf edges to turn brown. It will need to be staked or supported when it begins to grow upward. Good Luck with it! GH
