Do any of you have any Coulmbine seed?
Comments (20)I winter sowed all I had, and have never tried them before from seed. Only one yellow I had collected from my own plant, and just wanted to see if the seeds would germinate. I'm grateful for the other columbine thread where we were cautioned they may take a very long time so I won't get impatient and throw them out too soon, will have to water them once the tops come open, probably shouldn't let them dry out if it doesn't rain. Those lovely red ones (Swallowtail) were so different, not sure what red you're talking about, but they were only 10 seeds/pkt, and I passed them up, have been extravagant enough as it is. Now if I have good fortune, I will have several varieties of columbines and am not keen on them crossing, would welcome it for some. But you never know. I don't know how much of a tendency they have to cross or revert. One of my yellows, not the whole plant, just one part, had some red in it, every year, didn't care for it. If say my Nora Barlows cross with Blue Star or some odd kind I got, I would probably save seeds but don't know if they would stay true to form or not. I don't even know if they do cross if too different....See MoreBoxerpups...do you have any more pictures of this kitchen?
Comments (5)Is that hood tiled with ittybitty tiles or stuccoed? I'm just thinking how absolutely filthy it'd get around here. It would look good in blue and white. Cream and taupe though? It really does look fairy taleish and as such, needs some real color!...See MoreDo you have any idea? (See picture)
Comments (11)Oh my gosh! I love all the ideas! I had not thought of an arbor. But, since the back gets the hot afternoon sun, I must say I love suero's photoshopped picture. I think that is exactly what I would want. Punamytsike, I understand what you are explaining about needing to float the left side over the sunroom roof somewhat so that the rain water has a valley (gutter?) to transfer the rain down. I would stop the patio roof even with the sunroom roof, or just shy of it, whichever the builder thinks is best. I also plan to take down the short brick wall, so I can add two posts/colums on either side, with wider space in the center. Between the posts, I would put a little picket railing. Suero, I hate to even ask, but if you could, I would love for you to photoshop for me what I have tried to explain. The patio is approx. 25' x 10'. Thank you all for your ideas. I knew this form would come up with something that I could visualize!! Carolyn...See MoreWhat rules to follow for adjacent rooms color? Any pictures ?
Comments (5)This is such a personal issue. Some people are happy with all one color, or a tone on tone look. Others love the look of a color progression, like an enfilade. There is no answer and there are no rules. Martha did a great job of showing multiple colors in her K-Mart paint brochure, long ago. I should probably scan some of those photos as they are good examples of using a wide variety of colors harmoniously. My house is still all one color in the main living areas and I actively miss the variety. Now that the gardens are put to bed for winter, it is time to start painting. My "enfilade" will be Sand in the LR, then gray-green in the kitchen, followed by dusty turquoise in the breakfast room. Just beyond the breakfast room, the 3-season porch is hung with apple green curtains. Lots of color is the way I like to live, but I would never impose My Rule on anyone else! One really has to find her own path....and try to make it work with DH's ideas. Though I like to ignore my DH if I can get away with it. ;-)...See Morecactusmcharris, interior BC Z4/5
