Another herb for common cold relief?

Extracts from a south African herb, umckaloabo (Pelargonium sidioides) have recently been shown in some studies to have effectiveness against symptoms of the common cold and possibly other upper respiratory tract infections as well. Here's one internist who thinks it's worth a try.

Just published this year was a Cochrane review which compiled data from the various studies (excluding the poorest quality ones) and found that this herb may help in cases of the common cold and rhinosinusitis, "but doubt exists" (noting that study results are inconsistent, and some preparations i.e. pills appear ineffective).

Anyone here tried umckaloabo yet?
