Isabella Sprunt - Wider than tall after 5 years in the garden. Maybe 5' by 6 or 7. Safrano - 7' or 8' tall by 8' wide after 5 years in the garden. Mme. Lombard - Only 3 years old, and already been squashed to the ground by a falling tree- but STILL the biggest rose in my garden. Give this one 10' by 10' but make it to where it isn't so far in the back of the border that you can't smell blooms. Mme. Berkeley - Wider than tall after 3 years. Probably 4' tall so far by 6' wide. Angels' Camp - Newest one that I feel I can comment at all about. This one has grown large quickly, but suffered winter die back which is odd for me in my zone ... at least with teas. The hts like to kill themselves over winter, but never my teas. Every single rose on this list is one of my favorites.

Hello everyone, Many, Many thanks for your encouraging words about both my Mom and the lilies. To those of you who like 'Angelus Curlicue' I bought her from Robin Calderon of Earlybird Daylilies this past spring. Robin sends amazing clumps! Her daylilies are also very inexpensive (I don't know how she can make any money!). I highly recommend her as an inexpensive source for daylilies and you will get very generous clumps. She is also very nice. kitcatclub...yes, I do have voles in my gardens and have lost many lily bulbs over the years. I haven't lost many lately since Fat Cat Nemo and Lily have been patrolling the gardens. I do lose a few each year it seems. Do you have those horrible red lily beetles in NY? They are destroying my lilies and I can't spray because I have so many bees and butterflies about. I really appreciate ALL of you here on the forum, for your friendship and all the sharing. Or do I live with the reality of a so so yard, given that I'm not going to dump loads of chemicals on it? Certainly not. Organically maintained lawns don't look worse than synthetics, and frequently better. Part of the reason is that if you're organic, you're probably interested in the way your lawn looks and you work at it. Perfect...no. Very good, yes. I'm assuming it was a spring seeding, which is always weedy and never looks that great at first. For this summer, keep the weeds down with a Weed Hound, feed it well (young grass needs lots of nutrients), and hope for rain. Water as you can with your well. Seed it again in September, keep that damp, and you'll do a lot better than 10% junk by next spring--it should be closer to 0.5%. Feeding this year...I can't over-emphasize that (and next year if you fall seed). Four times might be a little trim, but I'll let the TTTF experts weigh in on that. I have KBG, which really wants 6 lbs of nitrogen per thousand square feet per year its first year. I think TTTF is considerably less.

I am in the same boat as you. I have repotted 120 plants and still have at least 50 or more to do. I usually plant 36 plants but will probably up that to 48 this year. Sorry I haven't grown any of the varieties you have questions on, but I had a question for you or anyone else. How many plants to do a good trial of a variety?
