Satsuma Plum More Prone To Frost Damage?

Tha Pranksta

After looking like it was all but dead after the first year of planting it, my Satsuma J. plum is indeed full of life. This year it appears I may get some fruit set as it has lots of blooms getting ready to burst open at the moment. This is all exciting since these are my first homegrown plums but I notice that all my other fruit trees appear quite a few steps behind the Satsuma in terms of getting ready to bloom. With this eagerness to bloom, I was wondering if anyone with Satsuma had noticeable issues with late frost destroying the crop?

By the way, beside the Satsuma is my Shiro which has a lot of green showing and a few flower buds for the first time as well. Having the trees right beside each other, I can see how the different cultivars differ in terms of growth. The Shiro appears more aggressive as it has a thicker trunk and much more branching. I can see that the aggressive growth does not necessarily translate to more flowers or fruit set.
