Evans, dwarf cherries and black knot

I see there are some Evans cherry enthusiasts here. I've been in touch with someone at DNA gardens who thought they would do well in Nova Scotia. I've also looked at their dwarf cherries - Romance series. I thought I'd check with a nursery closer to home so I called Corn Hill nursery in New Brunswick. They said they grew Evans for a while but they were all stricken with black knot, so they quit carrying them.

We live in a part of NS that lost most of its old plum trees to black knot some years ago. And there are many chokecherries around, which I understand are highly susceptible to black knot, although we have none on our property.

Any opinions here on Evans and black knot? Are the dwarf cherries black knot resistant? I'd welcome any recommendations on the best dwarf sour cherry for us - own roots prefered, and I don't mind suckers.
