It is a sharpshootet leaf hopper of some kind....maybe the Glassy Wing Sharpshooter. Look that up and see if images compare favorably with yours.

Hi, I have a patch of chandler and a patch of sequia strawberries planted here in East TX. They're doing great...I'm getting lots of berries and the plants look healty and these are the best strawberries we've ever eaten. But the problem is that a good number of the berries are being eaten by bugs or something. I never see the culprit, just the damage. Any ideas what it could be? The only thing I can think of is possibly crickets that live in the straw that I used to mulch the strawberries. Thanks.

Pillbugs. AKA sowbugs. AKA rolly-pollys. They're a land-dwelling crustaceans, more closely related to things like crabs and shrimp than insects. They actually don't prefer to eat things like strawberries; their preferred food is rotting matter (they're "dessicavores"). However, they tend to go through boom and bust cycles. When it's wet and there's lots of organic matter around, their populations explode. When their population is high and their food supply isn't sufficient, strawberries are a common target for them to eat. I've never had to control them, but I've heard it's tough. You can try diatomaceous earth or black plastic. Best control is prevention, though -- don't have organic stuff that stays soggy on the surface, and keep good airflow in the area.

Agree with the snails/slugs as the most likely culprit. And Sluggo will work very well, and is safe to use for your strawberries. Believe me, if you think you're upset about the leaves being eaten by the snails and slugs, just wait until they ruin the fruit! Lay down Sluggo in a 2 to 3" row all around your strawberry bed, and sprinkle throughout the bed. You can also use Sluggo Plus if you're also having earwig problems, great new product! For a non-organic solution, Corry's makes a liquid product called, "Deadline" which is Metaldehyde. Normally, in pellet or bait formulation, you don't want to use this if you have dogs or small children, but in liquid formulation, you can lay a line down around the perimeter of your strawberry patch, and if a snail crosses it, it will die. You'll need to reapply if it rains. Strawberry patches are an ideal place for snails and slugs to hide out, so you really also have to hand-pick them out in the evening or early morning as well, to get the population down. We are having a snail, slug, ant and earwig explosion here in California, due to all the rain we've enjoyed :-( Patty S.
