Uhhhh allergies.... natural remedies?
Comments (14)thot I would add- this is the info I came up with and also how to make a nettle infusion: Dosages: Stinging nettle - 250 mg. freeze-dried extract every 2-4 hours or until symptoms subside Ephedra: 12.5 - 25 mg. 3x day Quercetin - 400 mg. 2x day between meals Echinacea - 350 mg 3x day Garlic - tablet equivalent of 10 cloves of garlic Honey- 2 tbs daily == Nettle infusion A couple of months before your allergies usually begin, start drinking nettles infusions. Nettles Infusion 1 quart room temperature water 4 tablespoons dried nettles Let the nettles and water sit over night in a quart glass mason jar. In the morning strain the herb out and drink the quart of nettles infusion over the next two days. Especially in warm weather the infusion can go bad so it is important to keep it refrigerated. When you are ready to drink it take it out of the fridge and warm it up. Normally a nettles infusion is good for two days if not left out in the heat. You can drink 1 to 3 cups of nettles infusion a day for several months. Over the years I have watched many of my clients eliminate their spring allergies following the above protocols along with drinking nettles for about two months prior to allergy season and then continuing to drink it throughout the time they would normally have allergies....See MoreNatural Remedies for Constipation??
Comments (17)Hi woodnymph, You know....my IBS started up after I had a horrible flu and pneumonia in l995. But in retrospect, I was on antibiotics for 2 months, and now I wonder if they damaged my GI tract. I really dread being on antibiotics now because I seem to lose more and more of my GI function. I think antibiotics are more injurious to our intestines than we know. I've been tempted to have a stool test run by one of those places (Smokey Mountain labs??) to see if I didn't develop some sort of overgrowth back then, but haven't done it yet. I keep hearing that those places are sort of unreliable. And it seems like conventional docs don't believe in them. (But they don't always know everything, right?) But it sounds like you might have developed your problems from the antibiotics, just like I did. How much calcium are you on? What kind do you take? For many years, before the diarrhea got too bad, most of my symptoms were just rumbling and feeling like I had a small animal living in my chest. I hate it. It seems to come and go and come and go, and I can't always know what sets it off. Fortunately, the calcium has helped me alot. If I miss 1 or 2 doses, I get the diarrhea back. And it seems to happen at the most inopportune times! I got one of those "Magic Bullet" small blenders. Its really great for slushie-type drinks. Several mornings a week I make one for breakfast. I usually put in rice milk or almond milk, part of a banana, blueberries, and a tablespoon or 2 of ground flax seed. I coudln't believe how much this drink slows me down (with my diarrhea). Maybe you could try it a few days and see what happens? Try to find organic flaxseed. I forgot to do that and wished I had gotten it. I got mine at the grocery store where they have all those "Bob's" fresh ground flours, etc. Another interesting thing with me......the doc finally talked me into having a colonoscopy last June. I had it and was relieved that all was normal in there.......but it made me feel awful for months afterwards. I think the clean out really messed up the balance of good bacteria in there. I was nauseous and dizzy for 2 months. Finally, after a couple months on probiotics, I began to feel better. I think some of us just live with marginal GI function. There are several interesting books out there on the digestive system....like "The second brain", and "Digestive Wellness". The second one has alot of good suggestions. I use pepto bismol sometimes and it helps get me through the day sometimes. Good luck woodnymph!...See MoreNatural remedy for tape worm?
Comments (11)If there are fleas and yes 60 acres is pretty much impossible and would be ridiculously expensive to try and keep fleas out of, they will reinfest with tapes. I would definitely use the iverhart it should still prevent the tapeworms as long as you can treat them this time. I think that'd be the best bet. Not sure about the cats but at least treating a cat is cheap, not like 100+lb dog If there's fleas in the yard, and animals with tape, it just takes eating a flea to get it, so a preventative just seems like the easiest way to go about it. Maybe a coat spray as well to help keep the bugs off, i do that with mine, and there are recipes online but I use lavender and mint EO mixed with water, heavily diluted to keep bugs off, sprayed on or sprayed on a towel and rubbed on. Sorry I don't know anything to treat tapes, most natural things i know of that would treat an animal are low doses of things that are toxic. maybe look into acv, coconut oil, ascorbic acid. All 3 of those can be given to a dog and all are used to treat human parasites naturally so they may help. Comments (6)I know there are some here who will not agree with me, however. I have four large dogs. In my 18 years of having them, I have never had a flea problem. This goes for city and country living. I attribute it to two things. First, their diet. Two of them are on hypo allergic food, the other is on a very high quality one with no fillers etc. I've read lots that diet makes a huge difference when dealing with fleas. Second. I keep them clean. During the warm months, they get a bath about every 4 weeks, either by me or the groomer, depending on how dirty they get. I vacuum at least twice a week, and keep their bedding etc. clean by washing it at least once a week. My theory is not going to work for everyone. I use it because of horrible lower G.I. my dogs have experienced I've encountered with pills, collars and ointment. If your dog has an allergic reaction to fleas, other things will probably have to be done. But I do think what I'm doing helps lots as far as being preventive. SG...See MoreBethany_Z5
