Baffled by Blueberries

I have two blueberry plants in half-barrels that are about seven years old. For years they have been fairly productive, especially two seasons ago when we had a bumper crop of blueberries. Then last season, nothing. We might have gotten a dozen blueberries out of the two plants combined. They had spindly growth, with woody, dead ends on most of the branches, very few new green branches. Now this year, one plant is putting on a second year of nothingness while the plant sitting right next to it is covered in flowers and is doing beautifully. What gives?

A big clue might be that the half-barrel that the happy plant is in rotted last year and I repotted the happy plant in new planting mix. Would a soil deficiency result in such drastic performance differences? And would it go from bumper crop to nothing in one season's time? Check out the photo below for a side-by-side comparison of the two plants.
