blackhead problem

I have a blackhead deep in my forehead. There is a hole there that never closes and you can see the black in the hole. Is there a way I can force this to the top squeezing on the sides wont even begin to make it .

The microbrasion scrubs are for things like that. The apricot scrubs can cause skin damage because the granules in the scrub are not fine enough. You could steam your face to open the pores prior to useing a good quality scrub. If you are over zealous, you'll take the skin right off your face.

To steam your skin to open pores, you can boil water, fill a large mixing bowl one-third full of boiling water, whilst seated, hold your face over the bowl and place a bath towel over your head to create a mini sauna effect. Steam can burn, so don't put your face too close to the hot water.

After fifteen minutes, gently scrub your face with a micro dermabrasion product. Then use two Q-tips to attempt to squeeze the blackhead free, or wrap facial tissue around your fingers so that you don't damage your skin. Try to get beneath the top of the blackhead to squeeze it out. You will permanently have an enlarged pore because the pore has already become damaged. Use a skin toner, such as witch hazel, to close your pores to finish up the procedure. Biore facial toner is supposed to be able to break down garbage matter, which is trapped in one's skin. You could use that as a preventative against future blackheads.

Alternatively, you can go to a day spa and have them do a facial on you. It is not inexpensive, but it may be money well spent.

Did you know that there's actually a product called a "pimple popper"?
Well, okay, that may not be the actual name for it... =) but it's this little metal tool with a small round opening that you press against the pimple, and it helps it out without the same damage that your fingers cause. It looks like a mini monkey wrench, kind of. =)
I know, it sounds crazy. =)
When I was complaining about being an adult and still being plagued by the stupid things, my friend told me I could try her "pimple popper" and I thought she was teasing me...but she wasn't, and it worked! =)=)=)

It may not be as successful on one so deep, but it might help in the process that lorna-organic suggested. It's only ten dollars and can be found at Wal-mart or a local beauty supply store. I thought the beauty supply lady would think I was nuts when I asked her about it but she knew what I was talking about. =)
I've been really glad to have it cuz my blemishes don't scar anymore, and that used to be sooo frustrating.

Hi, Meandra. Your solution is to stop using cleansers on your face all together. I have the exact same skin problems. My whole family gets this skin with age and it's no fun. My skin is the worst - it's sensitive, like an open wound, I've always had pimples and scalp problems. I'm allergic to just about everything on Earth (it seems). Sound familiar? It sounds to me like you're heading into acne rosacea territory (strawberry nose), and the only solution I know to work is homeopathy. I use herbal remedies and natural remedies of all stripes for all kinds of stuff, but there is not a tonic that will help your skin, I promise. The two homeopathic treatments you can use (wouldn't advise while breastfeeding - could be harmless, but I don't know): calc sulph and calc carb (Boiron has appropriate strength ready to go for this purpose). Calc sulph is for acne and boils and seems to take the red out, and calc carb is a treatment for cradle cap - does wonders for seborrheic problems of all kinds, keeps those black/brown heads down to a dull roar. When I first started this regimen, it seemed to make my skin worse (had a minor breakout on my neck), but when that cleared up, my skin looked 100% better. My cheeks are white-ish, my nose is pink, but not red/bloody/awful. Back to no soap on your face! Warm water rinse twice a day, use a very soft, dry wash cloth to massage (gently) your skin dry (broken veins aren't nice and irritated skin is unpleasant). No toner! You can moisturize and I find that a mild, sensitive skin type is fine... many herbal/natural moisturizers actually contain lots of things that I am sensitive to. I hate to say I use generic oil of olay, very sparingly. Cold and hot water will make your skin unhappy! Hot especially. My sister also put me on to flax oil and zinc. I take those too. This might also be contributing to my skin success. Sorry for rambling - finding these things were like finding the holy grail for me!

I have this problem as well, it's really annoying, but if you want to get rid of them, someone suggested using messenger. It's available in the US, but not in Canada. I just keep picking them off and squishing them. And I check almost daily for any signs of the little larvae. They look like a tiny row of orangey eggs, and I scrape them off too. That way they don't have a chance to grow. On the plus side, my potatoes are doing fantastic. And if you're consistent about picking and squishing, it really helps the brugs. Mine are doing very well, despite the beetles.

It's likely the 3 lined potato beetle, which would also be a typical pest on other members of the same family (Solanaceae) as your Brug. The larvae pile their poop on their bodies!!! Lovely, huh? Here is a link that might be useful:

I am 55 and have oil "gusher" skin, with a few lines under the eyes. I've fought oil and blemishes since age 13 and it wasn't until I started to treat my skin like sensitive skin that I had any success. First; HANDS off - no picking, popping, or squeezing. I use a blackhead extractor when needed. I use Mary Kay time wise 3-1 bar soap and an Old Vic washcloth (can be found at Vermont Country Store, Amazon, Caswell Massey on line) - squeaky clean and gently exfoliated. A blackhead clearing astringent (Avon Clear Skin) and then a primer: Smashbox Matte: just soaks up the oil. Makeup is Loreal's Mineral powder foundation over Dermablend concealer (I have old acne scars on my cheeks), loose powder, powder blush and I'm good to go for a few hours. I like Mary Kay blotting tissues ($5/75 tissues) and always blot first, apply a touch of Smashbox to my t-zone and powder lightly. I've found that after my morning make-up application at 6:30am I usually need touch ups at 10 - 12 and 2pm. Evenings I again wash after removing eye makeup with Mary Kay eye make up remover, astringent, and then a moisturizer/oil control lotion (Mary Kay or other brands). I also like to dab a bit of eye cream on in the evenings (I like Mary Kay or Anew by Avon). Hands get FREQUENT applications of Mary Kay Timewise hand/body lotion during the day and before bed I do cuticles with almond oil or olive oil, what ever I can pick up - I rub it in real well and apply a nice hand cream.

You still have pimple poppers where you live? It has been years since I've seen one. I lost mine a while back and haven't been able to replace it, no matter how long or hard I've looked! *sigh*
