Partial shade berries, and other beginner questions

Hi,

This is my first year in my house, and I'm eager to get my garden going, and learn along the way.

My house faces west, and there's a 4' x 15 ' bed along the side of the house, adjacent to a sidewalk. There are 2 windows about 4' from the ground. I'd love to put some shrubby/bushy berries in there, but I'm worried that they may not get enough sun. There's a tree about 15' to the northwest of the bed. Otherwise, the area seems sunny How can I tell how many hours of sunlight the bed gets?

I'm guessing it's partial shade. What shrubby or bushy berries would fare well there? I was thinking blueberries, currants, or gooseberries.

Thanks for the help!
