Some 50 years ago or so I still remember in Switzerland, some farmers using
conons [link, picture in red] can be set at different intervals, I don't think your neighbours would like it.
Now these day's I have seen large trees being netted.

I owe a lot to my mulberry trees as they provide food in a safe setting away from ground dwelling predators. Along my property line there are probably 50 mulberry trees. I have virtually zero bird pressure because of their extended fruiting period and my cat's presence. I suspect they know she's around and don't take the chance at low lying fruit.
Blueberry growers alternate big eyes, owl profiles, natural-gas cannons, reflector tape, etc. Dedicate some far away trees to the birds and grow you bush close by, near your deck. keep it under 10'. Just tweaking some variables and maybe it'll work for you. Try a motion detecting sprinkler. sounds effective.

Thanks to the repliers. Since some things that go 'boom' bother neighbors, I tried a 'boom box', as someone had suggested that appropriate-volume, AM talk radio could possibly make nightly muscadine-eating raccoons/opossums uncomfortable at the supper table.(political comment withheld) In four days of radioed human voices, the group of (now numbering 20) berry-fanatic Cedar Waxwings have not been back to gobble up every berry that wasn't 100% green.Three mulberry trees within 40 feet of the radio are now back to providing ripe berries for humans.I have only seen or heard a couple stragglers that landed on 60 foot high nearby branches, waited a while, and later left. Even people like me can learn something about talk radio, but the Cedar Waxwings want nothing to do with it...so far.Regretfully, the mosquitos are unaffected.
