Spraying for CAR?? Please Help
Comments (0)I planted like 17 Apple trees and 4 Pear trees two years ago. At the time, I bought 2 year old trees. Only one of the Pear trees started to bear fruit. I have a problem with Cedar Apple Rust with the Apple Trees. I just sprayed Horticulture Dormant Oil spray on them on 3/10/14. That is suppose to kill some of the insects that may have been on there throughout the winter. I never applied any other sprays to help them ( never planted trees before, but mulched them all and fertilized them). Can someone please help me out with a great spray to use and WHEN and HOW OFTEN??? I'm located in Connecticut. Also, if you think there are any other spray I should apply, please let me know because I put so much work into planting them and would like to do what is best for them. I'm aware what CAR is and how you could be affected from trees 2-5 miles away. Any help would be great. This is my first post and new to this forum...See MorePlease help with semi no spray tea wannabe area
Comments (40)Oh, I LOVE hydrangeas! There aren't many that will grow here very well, but I'm planning on researching it out. There is a native Florida one, but it needs tons of shade, and I don't have what I would consider dense shade. I have just one spot under two palm trees that doesn't really get direct sun, only bright light, but I planted a baby antique camellia there. I don't know if I should move it or not, as it looks ecstatically heppy there and is growing like a weed. However, most camellias need some sun in order to bloom well. I may ask the man that propagated it what he thinks. If it'll bloom in that spot, I'm not going to move it. I can't wait to see how your garden evolves. It sounds as though you've got ideas starting to come to life. I'm glad that you are open minded. When I had the mind set that I HAD to grow roses in my shadier spots, I failed miserably. They were not happy or very healthy for long, and that made ME unhappy. Now that I work with the conditions I have, and plant accordingly, gardening is so much more enjoyable. It's opened up a whole new world. The roses that are planted where they belong, instead of where I dictated they go, are absolutely stunning. They are babies, and they are taking off like crazy, with beautiful foliage as well as blooms. I don't spray either. One of my old gardening magazines that I was browsing through today showed a planting of beautiful shrub roses. The text that went with it stated that the roses weren't so lush and beautiful because of the soil. They were that way because of the available sunshine. It'll be fun to see what roses you select for your garden, and the companions to go with them. Sandy...See MoreHelp me save some money buying a car, please
Comments (4)cowboyind, Thank you for your thoughtful message, useful as usual. The Golf is efficient and the owners like it. Seems to last a long time, as well. Plus the price of used ones, as with a number of small, fuel-miser vehicles, holds up well in the used vehicle market. Actually, if fuel prices keep rising, possibly some owners could sell for more than they paid new! Some have been saying that this may well be tha last car that I'll need to buy - even when I'm talking the age of vehicle that I mentioned above. At age 76 - who knows - they might be right. But my Dad drove about 2,000 mi. to visit friends in this community where he'd grown up and farmed till in his mid-40s. He drove it alone, when he was 85 - and did it in 3 days, as he usually figured to do. And had done the year before, when I rode with him from the Canadian Prairies down here to my home in London, Ontario. ole joyful...See MoreCherimoya tree "fried" in the car, please help
Comments (9)Wait until it resprouts. Also, put a big saucer under it so that it stays watered. Right now would be a very bad time to let it go dry again. Keep it in part shade, light shade. You don't want sun on it all day....See Moremes111
