Comments (23)"ones commonly taken by people who think they're avoiding what you termed "these proven artificial complexes which we all know have side effects". eric, by the same token how many people see headache/pain medication on the shelf and assume it is completely safe? and yet many of these medications contain codeine which addictive, paracetamol which can cause liver damage and ibuprofen which can cause very serious damage to the stomach and intestine. the problem with your arguments is that all of them can be applied to proven medications as well. "The real problem involves people neglecting proven interventions (like diet, exercise and limiting alcohol intake) in favor of some magic pill that they are encouraged to believe will solve all their problems." exactly the same thing can be said for taking medications, many people use them this way instead of doing other things in conjunction. You can not stop people from trying to take the easy way out if that is how they approach their health, but to assume that this is the norm is not giving people credit for having the ability to take their health more seriously than that. e.g. if steph did not take her health seriously, she wouldnt bother with eating sensibly and exercise, vinegar may have been the component which tipped the scales for her. steph is simply doing what people do, whether it be medication or alternative therapy, she is reporting her own observations, just like I did with the vitamin c, that is how people determine whether something is working or not, by observation, the same way people observe changes in their body good or bad with regular medications. your interpretation of this is slanted though, if it's herbal or alternative, you automatically assume it doesnt work and that any improvement is due to other things....See More'mother vinegar'
Comments (3)yes, i thought it would be on the acidic side and hard on the stomach, but i have drank it on an empty stomach and i can't feel the acid. i don't know what your ailment is, so i don't know if it would be too acidic for you. maybe the honey, that is a component of the drink, cuts the acidity....See MoreLOOKING for: honey, oil & vinegar
Comments (15)To give credit where credit is due, the original HOV mixture came from a nutritionist by the name of Adelle Davis. Her books are from the 40's-60's. Google her or I made it easy go here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adelle_Davis The book it was in may have been "Let's Eat Right to Keep Fit" from 1954. I discovered her books in the early 70's. She was an early advocate of cutting out the processed foods and eating whole foods only and also she talked about how bad canned food were for you. She was WAY ahead of her time. Although the above proportions are not the original "recipe" as it was NOT equal portions but it was safflower oil, apple cider vinegar and honey. I do not remember the proportions, but you mixed up about a cup or so at a time and drink 1 tablespoon (?) or maybe 2 teaspoons before each meal. The reason for the oil is that on a diet, most people completely cut oils & fats out, but you need some oil in your diet, so this made up for it. The vinegar aids digestion. The honey was to make it palatable. And its supposed to cut your appetite....See MoreDo YOU drink apple cider vinegar?
Comments (23)Hey Alisande...Since you're interested in genealogy, I contributed heavily to the current Paul & Patricia Bragg Wikipedia sites because their original back-ground stories they fed the public were pure BS, & hardly "encyclopedic". It became like a page-twisting soap opera. BTW, Clint Eastwood, born 1930, was a high school buddy of Patricia Bragg's brother, and I found that he & his family rented a modest home just a few blocks from my long-term current home during the 1940 Federal Census, and would have likely attended the grammar school just around the corner from us. I'll have to mention that fact to somebody at the school sometime if they weren't aware. We use only wine vinegar here. and never for medicinal purposes....See Moresafiyah
