I am disgusted!-Poles for beans keep falling over

I am about to give up!

I went to a friends house and cut lots of bamboo poles in hopes of having pole beans this year. I tied them together at the top (very tightly), 4 to a group. I really wanted to do more in the group but have seen as few as 3 in a group. Besides my DH swore 4 would be enough. Anyway, after that I buried each pole about 6 inches deep making my teepee. Well, the bamboo which was green at the time is drying so the tied tops are not as tight as before and the dumb things are falling over. My beans are about 5 inches tall (late planting due to wet weather) and are going to want to climb. What am I doing wrong that these stupid poles won't stand up? I've seen in magazines where there are only 2 with a pole tied across the top. Yeah, right.

Does anyone have an experience with using bamboo poles for their beans? If so, what is the secret?

I am needing to do something soon.

Please help. My beans need it and so does my sanity.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
