Blackberry Primocane

First post, I've lurked here for years ...
Got a brand new blackberry bush and a raspberry bush too yesterday. Then after a terrible storm this morning, I found the primocane on the blackberry bush was slapped down, not totally snapped apart, but hanging at an angle unable to support itself.
I understand that the primocane is next year's fruit.
My questions are: does damage to the primocane mean my whole bush's days are numbered after this year's yield? Or will I simply not get any production next year but look forward to fruit again in 2014? What should I do with the snapped cane? I thought about taping around and reinforcing the weak area, but is this a futile effort? Should I just cut it off?
TIA.
