Weeping Cherry Pruning

renald

I planted a weeping cherry in my yard a couple of years ago, of the type that is grafted onto a stem and cascades downward. Very pretty esp. when it flowers in the spring. It is, however, a bit out of control, having grown its branches almost horizontally instead of downward. Can and should I try and shape it, by pruning, or would that be unwise? If so, do you know of any website that would tell me how to do it? Thanks for any advice!(if it would be helpful, I can upload a picture, or if that is not possible in this forum, send you a picture to your em address.)
