(pics) Are these scars or eggs on the backs of my collard leaves?

I have a bad imported cabbage moth problem with my collards, but I was able to harvest some of the larger leaves with not too much damage to them, thanks to plucking off and killing the larvae (though I got lax about it for a while - I couldn't stand to see my beautiful plant get eaten by anyone but me and I resumed squishing).

The backs of some of the leaves have things that look sort of like scars on them, but I can't imagine what would have done the damage except the worms. Are they spots where the eggs were laid and then the little caterpillars made their way out? As I understand it, the moths lay single eggs, so if it's where the worms emerged, it would make sense as to why there are so many "scars".

Is it ok to eat these parts of the leaves without scraping or cutting these parts off?
