Differences between 'Composted Manure' & 'Manure Compost?'

I thought that whichever word order means the same thing, but obviously the order of the words make the difference... at least price-wise. Manure compost is much more expensive than composted manure, as the latter is dirt cheap......

What's the differences between them.... thanks

Also, the mushroom compost. Same price as Black Kow manure compost. On the package of the mushroom compost, it says "for garden, mix one part of mushroom compost with two parts of blackKow manure compost." Why one part to two parts? Are they all have different nutrient values among composted manure, manure compost, and mushroom compost. What's the best for VEGE garden?

You'll find more info on this over on the Soil & Compost forum but basically "Composted Manure" is 80%+ manure (usually from feeder lots) that has been stockpiled and aged for 30-60 days. Manured Compost is approx. 80% composted organic materials such as straw, leaves, paper, grass clippings, paper, cardboard, wood chips, etc. to which some aged manure has been added.

Given the greater availability of organic materials to make compost out of it is usually cheaper. And, I contend, usually better given the diversity of materials and nutrients it contains.

Mushroom compost is also not as readily available given it is from mushroom growing operations only and yes it is the lowest nutrient value of the 3.

What is best? That all depends on the quality of the stuff to begin with - there is good and bad out there. And it depends on what your primary goal is - soil tilth and drainage improvement or nutrients?

All 3 or any of the 3 are beneficial to a garden. Composted manure is usually the highest in N-P-K but does little to improve soil. While manured compost usually contains good levels of N-P-K plus many of the micro-nutrients and minerals and provides excellent soil improvement. Mush compost is lowest in nutrients but an excellent soil conditioner. There are exceptions to this of course and in general farm or homemade will be better than any of the bagged stuff but if the bags are all that are available and I had to choose just 1 of them then I'd go with the Manured Compost.

If it's 24 hours old without aeration, it's pretty dead tea. What you are shooting for in AERATED COMPOST TEA is to dislodge the beneficial microbes from compost and provide an aerated and well fed environment for them to multiply in numbers. Hopefully you can get up to a factor of 1,000 from the original count in the compost to the finished tea. Don't use unfinished compost or manure in tea. If you do then you are possibly multiplying pathogenic microbes along with the beneficial. All you need to do is start spraying e.coli on your garden and then you have a mess. Finished compost smells fantastic. If yours does not smell like a forest floor after a rainstorm, then it needs to continue composting. If it smells foul, sour, dank, rank, moldy, musty, yeasty, or otherwise rotten, then continue to compost it until it smells great. First off I'm not a gardener. Were your existing large bins filled as batch or continuous? If batch, I am going to expect a 50-60% reduction in volume by the time it's finished. If continuous, not so much reduction as some has already taken place. Is your garden for vegetables? I've heard that veggies are more demanding of nutrients and stuff. Do you till a lot? As it is your bins have a volume of 16 CY or so if filled. Shrinkage could take that down to as low as 8 CY or so but more likely into the 12 CY range. To cover a garden of your size with 1 inch of finished compost you would need just over 13 CY of finished compost. One inch doesn't sound like a lot but it should be sufficient if the compost has decent numbers and the garden soil wasn't dead to begin with. And with 5 of 7 years having compost added I would suspect your garden is in pretty decent shape. I don't think even 2 inches would cause any harm but it might be more than you require. folks just a tip,i use for my tomatoes, i have all raised beds,i take a 5 lb,coffee can drill holes into bottom one qtr about 8 then put in rabbit manurecouple hands full,then some leaves cut over with lawn mower twice then wet it, then put some straw on top wet it, screw on lid, put into soil about 4 inches,leave for spring i usally check 2 or 3 times before if some room i add coffee grounds, under straw, now by spring lotsssssss of worm poop now i dig hole with post hole digger add about half can to each hole, put in 2 tea spoons of epsom salt wowwww the toms i get close to record here in ga on one plant had 81 lbs, oh when can empty redo this set can filled back in a new hole when worms u dumped ready they will come right back this way no getting worms out of poop,lol lol im a little lazy lol tu happy gardening

Squashing some misinformation above... cows in feedlots don't have "large amounts of antibiotics". If you think that, then you don't know what antibiotics are for, or how highly regulated they are. As well, you don't know what antibiotics are if you believe they are "fed to these animals" or if you think antibiotics somehow "help them gain weight on less feed"... I didn't read the rest of what you posted because clearly you speak of things you do not know about. Thank you to all else for the helpful information, because what I was looking for was about the difference between dried manure and composted, not some hit-piece on feedlots (which I have nothing to do with, but I don't agree with false information being loosely passed around, especially when it makes farmers look bad... because a farmer, I am). If you'd like a little fact of the day... you will not EVER eat meat or drink milk that is raised in the USA, that has ANY antibiotics in it, organic or not. This is a FACT. These things are the most highly regulated commodities in the United States, and there are withholding periods specifically so that no antibiotic is ever in the product for human consumption. This is dangerous information to spread around. As well, it is a FACT that these things are not just generously pumped into animals... like your dog, when a cow gets sick, it may get treated with an antibiotic (like penicillin, just like what us humans get in the hospital) to make that cow not sick anymore. It is not something that helps them grow, it it not something that is ever used in large amounts or if not needed, and it is not something us humans will EVER consume from food produced in the USA. Dave, you definitely answered my question. Great help, thanks. By the way, another question. I may be wrong, but from what i understand now:

the choice probably depends on the type of garden, right? For example, for perennials, improving soil condition might be more important than other type of gardens. I can use "Manure Compost," On the other hand, vegetable plants, as annuals, need faster absorbency of the nutrients, then I would choose composted manure.

Is the above analogy right?
