Thanks, guys! I did go ahead and pull some. They were small, but tasted great! Last time I tried to grow radishes, the roots didn't do anything. Later I found out that you need to thin them early. So I feel moderately successful this time. I'm curious to see what the next ones do. I planted another crop that is a couple of weeks old, and I just planted a third crop (I think it will stay cool enough). Hope all goes well! =P I'm growing lots of new things this year--spinach, lettuce, chard, broccoli, kale... I had none of that the last two years. I grew spinach in a pot once, and someone gave me a potted lettuce once, but that's it. This is my third garden (very small garden, more like a hobby sampler, LOL!)

My HD's are probably about a week later than average. I have found that you can't predictably calculate a general curve of ripening based on what one or even several varieties are doing. Conditions seem to affect different varieties and species in different ways. When I said I attributed the lateness to lack of sun it was only a guess. It may also be due to a late spring. It is said that the most reliable calculation is made from date of flowering. All of this is not my forte because I don't do much record keeping. I do not find uneven watering to promote split pits in the northeast at all, speaking from a lot of anecdotal experience. Most of the sites I manage depend entirely on rainfall so uneven watering is the norm. I have only observed split pits in the last 20 years on very early ripening peaches although fertilization and watering regimens have been all over the map due to factors out of my control.

Noss you misunderstood the statement. Yes fig trees have many different shape leaves on same tree . When juvenile some of these leaves can be quite large and dwarf ones hand easily. Different shape leaves on same plant means nothing weather there 3-5-7 lobed leaves thats normal, there are no lobed leafs as well on some plants in the mix also normal. A deformed leaf is just that deformed and can be missing one of the lobes totally on the Same leaf itself or be quite shortend lobe and look very oddball. Here is just an example. As a note FMV usually displays itself in a plant early in season then as season wanes it can hide only to reappear the next season. Many folks have fmv plants its no big deal some of the best tasting cultivars have it. Its also prevalant in many vegtables such as squash, cucumbers,potatoes, etc. If one does a search on mosaic in plants you can see pictures. Martin

Moreton Hybrid F1 (small-medium variety)70 day indeterminant (Harris Seed Co exclusive) 5. Jet Star (small-medium variety) 75 day indeterminant (low acid?)(Harris Seed Co.) 6. Supersonic (medium size)78 day indeterminant (Harris Seed Co.) All these tomatoes are similar in taste and texture when grown in the soil where I live. Its a clay base heavy soil. I use peat moss and worm castings as soil amendiments. No chemicals. I water with treated Lake Onterio Water and of course rain. I have had no disease problems to speak of and am luckey so far. My wife as she processes the harvest she mixes all the different up. what she grabs is whats in the jar/freezer bag. larry
