Yes, you belong here as there are several offers of seeds for postage you may be interested in replying to. I just now posted an offer of some seeds (BEAP...bubble envelope and postage.)
I see you have no email link on your member page...and no wish list of seeds posted. You might want to check out this thread Addressing newbie and newer member issues It addresses the importance of having a wish list of seeds posted on your trade page, particularly if you respond to offers of seeds for postage (SASE, SASBE, which are actually BEAP-bubble envelope and postage)offers.
Ok, It is easy when you know the answer. Thanks for making me feel welcome. I have added my email and will work on my want list. I printed off the link you added Sue and will read it carefully. I attempted to start a bunch of seeds this year and the majority of them died. I think they might of been to wet. I will try again. Kathy
Err...one more pesky question tacked on this? I'm a brand new reader on this list. How many seeds do people typically want when they ask for trade? Is that a dumb question? Would it be like a whole package of store bought seeds?
Welcome!! You might want to check out the winter sowing forum. I had good results with my first try at it last winter, and I am looking forwards to doing it again this winter. So much fun!!
How many seeds do people typically want when they ask for trade? It is usually 'assumed' that there will be about 25 seeds...the standard for most seeds.
Many things are regularly traded in much smaller quantities, and are often noted on the member's trade page, or in their post. A couple of things that are often traded in lesser quantities, are tomatoes, peppers maybe tree seeds maybe shrubs-(who really needs 25 lilacs?) morning glories sweet peas, specialty seeds, or more expensive commercially bought seeds and I'm sure there are numerous others.
Communication is key...so the trader knows just what they are getting for sure. Many members send a LOT more than 25 seeds, but that is usually when they have a ton of a particular variety that they want/need to get shared b4.
Taken from the FAQ here.... How many seeds are considered a 'fair' trade?
A fair trade is whatever you and the other trader agree to. Generally, two to three dozen seeds should be enough to ensure germination and growth of a satisfying number of plants. However, the most certain way to assure both parties will be satisfied is to discuss quantities when negotiating the trade.
All the Seed Exchange FAQ that need some updating as far as postage costs. I will get to that in time.
ladycraft I have made many trades using bubble and I send the bubble envelope along with stamps for return postage inside and include a large label with my address to be pasted on the outside of the bubble env. I sent.
I don't always get my own envelope back. That's up to the person sending. The important thing is to protect seeds that need it and to replace the envelope that the giver is sending. They don't want their precious seeds they saved smashed.
Some seeds don't need a bubble (like tomato seeds) but again that's up to the seed-giver. If they want a bubble you need to send one.
Good luck. I've gotten some wonderful seeds from generpous GW'ers. Only been burned once. That's life.
